What do you think about WSJ's report that HILLARY will definitely run again in 2020?

WSJ reports Hillary is definite about running again

Before you respond, please remember that she won the POPULAR VOTE in 2016 and Trump's blue wall didn't pan out in the midterms

With that out of the way... what do you think?

Hillary... or BETO?

kane 11-11-2018 05:41 PM

Hilary would be a mistake. She is toxic. If the Dems end up choosing her, I think it would be a mistake.

She seems to be rebranding herself to align more tightly with the BERNIE SANDERS wing of the Dem Party

Excellent news! She will be easily defeated for the 4th time.

But the popular vote! Oh please- she stole the primary from Bernie Sanders with massive fraud and surely there was fraud in her "winning" the popular vote as well. Even then, she only won 17% of all US counties.

Her own leaked emails revealed that she takes medication for Parkinson's disease, and that she can barely stand up without having a podium to lean on. Trump was right- she can't even make it 15 feet to her car. Not exactly a strong candidate.

I don't think it will matter.

The Democrats need a candidate who can energize the young voters and get the base to turn out. Half the base hates Hilary. They aren't going to suddenly like her because she sounds more like Bernie.

I'm not saying she couldn't win the nomination. She has enough supporters to get the nod, but I don't think she can beat Trump. Yes, we saw a lot of those middle class blue collar voters that voted for Trump vote Democrat in the midterms, but I don't know that they would also vote for Hilary.

If the choice was Hilary or Beto, I would say Beto would have a better chance of winning. Hilary is now coming off like someone who will say or do anything to get elected which isn't a good look.

How can the person who won the popular vote by a record 3,000,000 votes be "toxic".

You are THAT afraid of the GOP reteric?

The GOP and the media hit her with everything they had for months and years and she still won the popular vote.

I'm up for new blood, but your argument against Hillary Clinton does not hold water.

I think the only person Trump could have beat was Hilary. I think if were anyone but her the outcome would have been different. When you look at the exit data it becomes clear. In Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, young voters didn't turn out for her like they did for Obama and she lost those states. Maybe Trump having now been in office will be motivation enough for those young voters, but I wouldn't count on it. Democrats got fired up this midterm for new, interesting candidates. They don't need to squash that momentum by bringing old, crooked Hilary back out for another run.

Of course, what happens over the next two years will play a major role in all of this. If the Mueller investigation is bad for Trump it may be a case where he can't win again no matter who runs against him. If he is impeached, steps down, or just doesn't run again then, who knows, Maybe Hilary could beat another candidate, but I guess it would depend on who it was and/or what all went down.

Also https://news.gallup.com/poll/243242/...ating-low.aspx

Gallup shows her favorability rating has actually gone down since the election and is now slightly lower than Trump's.

beerptrol 11-11-2018 06:41 PM

If she does then Bernie should run as an independent even if it costs her the election. Time to clean house of the old school corporate democrats and get some new blood in there

Matt 26z 11-11-2018 07:03 PM

She has no choice. She is owned by Clinton Foundation donors. I'm sure the hope there is she will have a much better chance now that right wing speech has been suppressed on social media.

2020 is ultimately going to be about the beaner vote for Democrats and how many real Americans they can brainwash into marching along towards generous socialism for the underclass paid for by the middle class.

TheSquealer 11-11-2018 07:28 PM

I seriously doubt she could win the nomination. Even Dems were turning Bill away in the mid terms and he's the more likeable personality of the two. I think Hillary is done.

bronco67 11-11-2018 07:31 PM

Hopefully she doesn't get past the primary. Actually, I'm hoping she forgets this Hilary for president bullshit or is maybe struck by lightning as a last resort.

This has now become like the guy who keeps trying to get the girl who obviously doesn't want him. It's pathetic and just plain dumb.

Rochard 11-11-2018 08:11 PM

Hillary is done.

She comes with way too much history and way too much baggage. The Republican party hates her with a passion.

She is also way too old at this point.

the problem is, she doesn't see this reality from where we're sitting...and that's her number one problem. If she could see it that way, she would instantly say "No way I'm going to help send America further into darkness over the next 4 years by getting Trump re-elected."

While I can't speak for Kane, I agree. It's not that I don't think she would do a great job and she should have won, and this has nothing to do with the way the GOP painted her, but I just don't think she is going to capture the people she needs to convince to win. If she was the nominee, I would certainly vote for her. Bernie would have beat her without scandal. That didn't help her. Even a little bit of toxicity for her is too much.

For me it is about excitement and likability. Democrats need both of those things. They should do whatever they can to avoid finding themselves in an election where people are choosing the lesser of two evils. Someone who can get the base out to vote, has a plan to help middle class blue collar people, and isn't an asshole could do very well against Trump, if he is even still around or runs in 2020.

Bladewire 11-11-2018 09:48 PM

I hope we get someone better and more exciting than Hillary, but in the end POTUS isn't supposed to be the daily drama shitshow Trump is trying to make it.

We need someone knowledgeable & well connected to repair all the international damage Trump is doing. It doesn't have to be Hillary but we do need that to move forward.

I don't even see how this can be something people consider wise?

She lost to a little known Senator in 2008 which at the time was an upset of sorts, she then lost to the a reality TV star who had no chance or business winning, we going to sit here and think 2016 was about people voting for Trump? It was about people voting against Hillary.

wehateporn 11-12-2018 07:48 AM

Many people were voting for Trump purely to stop Hillary, Bernie fans taking revenge

Serious question, why is he? Nothing he said during the election was any different than the vast majority of Democrats now. He didn't offer anything new or fresh. Other than being a good looking guy he is more of the same Democratic agenda, which I am in line with for the most part. But to call someone who is spouting the same talking points as everyone else is the future, why?

From what I've seen Beto couldn't win POTUS he's too shaky a speaker and not a quick wit on live interviews & debates. He comes across as whiny. I've only seen a few short clips of him. I like him he seems like a great guy.

I've been hearing a lot of Kamala Harris talk. She might be interesting.

Frankly.... I want Trump to stay in office. This is going to tank, and I want Trump to be in office when this happens. Obama took office during the Great Recession and handed Trump a perfect economy, and the Republicans (and thus Trump) are taking credit for it. I don't want Trump to lose the next election when everything is going south and Republicans putting the blame on Democrats.

Avenatti isn't qualified. I am sure he is smart, etc, but....

I am in the local leadership class, and in the past three months we have met with every department head in the city. I had no idea how complicated and how big everything is in a small town of fifty thousand people.

Just the water department is mind blowing. They have to work with multiple states, counties, and other cities to ensure the water is coming into the area properly. They have manage areas where the water comes in and is collected - it's not freaking piped in. We have a huge plant where they store water treat it, and they pump it out to every house and business in the city. Then... they collect all of the sewage... Treat it, some of it is sent back out to water plants, etc, and the rest has to be packaged to be removed.

This is one department of our city. And it's a small city.

Someone who runs office like this needs to understand how ALL of this works. Being President of the country must be overwhelming. They have to understand how local cities and counties work, how states work, they must understand law and fiance, technology, foreign relations, and military... and everything else. You also have to understand history, and government history, military history....

Trump, Avenatti, Oprah.... These people aren't remotely qualified.
