Yes you still definitely get visibility & traffic. Google doesn't count no follows towards pagerank but you links out are looked at and calculated in other Google metrics like "neighborhood", etc.

it's all about brand presence these days. no-follow links establish your brand just as well as do-follow

There was never a reason to avoid them. Healthy link profile always contains some % of nofollow links.

Personally, I 've never believed in "Google won't take them into consideration". It is just a matter of their decision and they want to spy on everything, no way that they will ignore them in their calculations.
