Would you pay 2 million GBP for art that SHREDS itself?
Apparently, that's the case. Banksy embodies Andy Warhol's classic quote about Modern Art: "making MONEY IS art..."
|
if i am billionaire then might be but still nope, i would rather give to some cancer charity/research institute.,
|
Yeah well they didn't really did they?
They paid 1 Million for a spray painted stencil, that because of the frame and the surrounding publicity, is now worth double what they paid for it. In other words, whoever paid 1 Million for that picture, had it double in value in less than 30 seconds. 1 Million profit in 30 seconds for doing nothing is a pretty sweet deal... |
Now that's insane amount of $ to spend for an artwork!

The state of art is, indeed, in shreds . . .

I've met dozens and dozens of people like you who can't find a way to enjoy modern art so they need to lash out at those of us who do and call us suckers. it's a shame. |
besides, do you really think that the guy who spent $50 million misses the money? $50m is nothing to a lot of people these days.
|
but now you get idiots trying to copy the shredded work with their 40grand prints, making them worth a quid! :)

https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/s...uTLluVwaqL.jpg Fountain is sculpture produced by Marcel Duchamp in 1917: a porcelain urinal signed "R.Mutt" and titled Fountain. In April 1917, an ordinary piece of plumbing chosen by Duchamp was rotated 90 degrees on its axis and submitted for an exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists, the first annual exhibition by the Society to be staged at The Grand Central Palace in New York. The work is regarded by art historians and theorists of the avant-garde as a major landmark in 20th-century art. |
whoops, people didn't get Picasso either
"With Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso offends the Paris art scene in 1907. Showing his eight-foot-square canvas to a group of painters, patrons, and art critics at his studio, Picasso meets with almost unanimous shock, distaste, and outrage. The painter Matisse is angered by the work, which he considers a hoax, an attempt to paint the fourth dimension. "It was the ugliness of the faces that froze with horror the half-converted," the critic Salmon writes later. The painter Derain comments wryly, "One day we shall find Pablo has hanged himself behind his great canvas." https://www-tc.pbs.org/wgbh/cultures...icasso_big.jpg |
Tate museum of modern art.. flies and cows head..
Right up of Dynamo alley... http://www.mrexhibition.net/wp_mimi/...otoblog900.jpg |
I'm not shocked you need to try and insult people who enjoy art.
|
I do always feel a tinge of sadness whenever I cross paths with someone who not only can't pause and appreciate and reflect on art for a moment but also need to attack those who do.

Hey, that is TATE MODERN in London....I am sure all of your friends appreciate this piece of art, looks like they all are mesmerized...:1orglaugh |

I know that. I've been to the Tate. Sorry you can't/are unwilling to understand the value to society of art. |
