Woman sentenced 2 years in jail for uploading six second gay sex video to Snapchat
It's pretty shocking that they sentence a straight woman to 2 years in jail for this don't you think? "I went to see him. I heard some suspicious noise,’ she said. ‘This is where I took my cellphone to film the scene without their knowledge, and then transferred it to a girlfriend. ‘I’m sorry. It was the first time I saw boys indulging in such a practice. I had subsequently deleted the video. I did not know it could cause us all this trouble." Woman sentenced 2 years in jail for uploading six second gay sex video to Snapchat Authorities have sentenced four people arrested in Senegal for engaging in gay to jail, one of them for more than two years. The four were arrested after a six second video of two unidentified men having was uploaded to Snapchat. Authorities charged the group with ‘acts against the order of nature’. That law bans same-sex relations in many former French, Portuguese and English colonial countries. ‘Acts against nature’ are illegal and punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of up to US$2,500. The 20-year-old woman who uploaded the video to Snapchat received a two year and three month sentence for broadcasting ‘obscene images’, according to Sene News. The others received sentences of six months. She said she would never have uploaded the video if she had known the trouble it would cause. The woman shot the video after going to visit one of the men at his apartment. '‘I went to see him. I heard some suspicious noise,’ she said. ‘This is where I took my cellphone to film the scene without their knowledge, and then transferred it to a girlfriend. ‘I’m sorry. It was the first time I saw boys indulging in such a practice. I had subsequently deleted the video. I did not know it could cause us all this trouble.’ Senegal’s elections Observers argued the arrests of the four people are a deliberate crackdown on the LGBTI community ahead of national elections. ‘As the elections in Senegal approach, parties are making their stand against the LGBTIQ+ community by arresting members of the community,’ PanAfrica Ilga wrote in a statement. Pan Africa ILGA (PAI) is the African region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA). ‘The Senegalese candidates and government needs to be held accountable for their homophobic stance and the human rights violations being perpetrated as a platform for election. We stand in solidarity with our Senegalese comrades,’ the group said |
