Why I hate Mainstream

I am sure there is a lot that I will not like about the adult either, but when you have a fucking Chamber of Commerce fuck you out of $$$ you have to ask yourself?. What is this world coming to.

After completing a site for the Northwest Valley Chamber of Commerce, they decided they wanted to give me a membership in lieu of payment. The changed the fucking passwords on me so I could not put back their old site and now I am in a law suit to collect.

They are fucking butchering my work god damn it!. The people they are using to maintain their new site uses?. Get this?. Front Page. This is suppose to be a professional company that manages chambers all over the US.

What is this world coming to when you cannot trust an organization that is suppose to help business?

Sorry, need to get that off my chest.

Now go back about your business and thanks for viewing.

lEricPl 05-01-2003 05:39 PM

Damn dude...

Do you know how much work that could have gotten you?

Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce lets you smooze all the right people.

Smoozing = $$$$$$$$

lol

I think that was a mistake.

Did you not have a contract?

No, I do things on a hand shake. I guess I am too trusting.

Live and learn.

Actually, this Chamber is in an area of old people... Not too much money in this area yet.... Sun City, Az, and such. If it were the Phoenix Chamber, that might have been a different story.

tony286 05-01-2003 06:18 PM

Thanks, my lawyer thinks we will win hands down. No contract so I own the intelectual right to my work. They have to pay or take it down. If not, at least I will have a judgement against them. Still rather have the 1700 they owe me, but a judgement will be good enough if they still will not pay.

that's why you design on your server and then you zip it up and send it to them. Not saying they still can't steal some of your work, just makes it harder. Also gives you that much more leverage in a intellectual property dispute.

And what's wrong with FrontPage? I design all my sites with it. I've been doing web design for 6+ years. Do my sites look unprofessional?

TDF 05-01-2003 06:58 PM

im a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Beverly Hills..just networking at their parties alone is worth the fee

Never seen your sites... sorry, didn't mean to offend but to most professionals, FrontPage is a secretary tool, not a professional development tool.

see sig.

I'm not a programmer so in the case that you integrate alot of code in addition to your html, i'm not sure if frontpage is the best solution. But for html layout/design it works fine. I do not rely on Frontpage though as an html substitute, I can write html and I often edit the source directly while working in Frontpage. I think it becomes more of a secretary's tool when people use it as their only means of designing a web page, in this case most wysiwyg editors can been seen as such.

btw, what program do you use?

It's a cheap home editor. Doesn't want to spend what it takes to get MS Paint and Notepad.

No, but my main business is not on it so... I really do not give a fuck. These are just hobby sites for me.

Also... the server is not cheap.... I am :)

Dreamweaver is no better then Frontpage. I use Frontpage as a starting point then end up doing the rest by hand.

Do think Photoshop is for Secretaries too?

NB: it's surprizing how few people have an appreciation for quality work. They think one programmer, one designer, one network admin, is the same as the next.

Certainly not the case in my experience, and if you're in any business that relies on those services, an appreciation for quality work and support comes pretty quickly.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.. certainly hope you win the suit and that you are able to move on to better things.
