Great performance. Thanks OP for posting.

As I recall, Tony Iommi was sick that day. And Barry Williams (a superstar at the time, Greg Brady from the Brady Bunch) offered to play guitar for Black Sabbath. Ozzy gratefully accepted, and the rest is history.

But as you know, all that's just BS.

This is one concert where you can see Tony goofing off with Ozzy (11:10), which he normally seldom if ever did because he was too focused on playing. Great concert, great fun, great rockin.

Sabbath is the grandfather of all of the bands I listen to now in the Stoner Metal genre.

The sign of an excellent musician is whether or not they can easily be compared to another musician.

If a friend tells you about a new musician you may ask "who do they sound like?" And for most musicians, your friend will rattle off a handful of comparable musicians.

For truly great musicians, there is no comparison.

Black Sabbath is one of those. If you ask me who does Black Sabbath compare to, I would say no one. They are Black Sabbath. You need to listen to understand.

Thanks for the video. I haven't listened to Sabbath in a while. Cranking them now.

I saw Black Sabbath on February 11, 1970 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA.

They were the lead act for Grand Funk Railroad, who was having riots on their entire tour. Black Sabbath blew them away.
