A magistrate defending his family against an armed gang who stormed his home ended up being arrested himself – and accused of a racially aggravated assault.

Police detained Nigel Stringer for three hours and he remains under investigation while the gang – believed to have been armed with a gun, knives, metal bars and a crossbow – were allowed to leave.

The 67-year-old, who has been a magistrate for 26 years, is now standing down to pursue a private prosecution against the men.

His wife Cindy, 55, says she lives in constant fear following the terrifying events of January 14.

Mr Stringer says justice 'runs in my blood', with his grandfather and parents having careers in policing.

But he said: 'They would all turn in their graves to know that modern political correctness caused my son and I to be taken from our home for defending our family.

'In detaining us the police left my wife and daughters unprotected with some of the gang still in and around our garden.'

The millionaire property developer believes the incident – during which both sides allegedly used the racially incendiary n-word – may have arisen from a bitter dispute with a tenant over rent arrears.

Did you read the article?

According to the homeowner, Mr Stringer, four armed men stormed his compound. According to police four unarmed men were trespassing and he assaulted them. Big difference between the two.

Not when i lived there for 45 years, so i guess the law has changed ?
If you felt in imminent life threatening danger of losing your life or that of your family and the person was inside your home, you could use force to safeguard your life, in other words shoot the fucker. If they were outside your house or running away from you ( because you had a bat or 45 magnum in your hand) you could not harm them.

Agreed.

I had a client and while conducting business his attorney was present. My client was frustrated that his home was periodically broken in. He was curious if he can set covert bear traps. The attorney stated he could not, inside the house or outside.

Yea I read it, I always do when I post these type of threads, to the contrary what others may claim. Not that I should care what a clown says anyway.

1. I can definitely see some irregularities and story stinks, if they did have weapons where were they when police arrived at the scene.

2. The home owner have pursued his own investigation after arrest, I want to know based on what? Either he is sure of his thing or just pushing the trespassing scenario.

Story stinks but whatever happens it might come as a surprise. Curious to see how it ends.
