New Car I purchased. 2018 Chevy Impala V6, 305 horse power. ((Pix))

My old car was a 2001 Buick Century. I liked the car, after years of wear and tear I figured it was time for something new.

This is my 3 week old 2018 Chevy Impala LT V6 with a MSRP of $34,000.00. I purchased the car for $30,000.00 ($20,000.00 down to lower my monthly payments) which included the $1300.00 trade-in on the Buick. The undercarriage of the Buick was a rust bucket that required in excess of $2500.00 in breakline repairs alone.

Here is my new Chevy Impala complete with Sun/moon roof, it's 140mph odometer and 305 horse power Direct Injection V6 engine. All that money and it didn't come with floor mats. Iam using the old ones out of the Buick untill I find the time to order custom ones.

Congrats on the new purchase. Getting a new car is always exciting ;-)

Don't think I have any pics of my truck but I drive a 2015 Chevy Silverado. Not a huge truck fan but love to fish and it gets my boat around to the lakes i wanna hit.

Rochard 06-21-2018 09:13 AM

Getting a new car is always fun.

I still have my Jeep Grand Cherokee (daily driver) and my Challenger, but I need something different. Some of the older cars are so cheap now, and easy to find online. I've always wanted a 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO.... Sort of a sheep in wolf's clothing kind of car. You can find them for $10k now online.

8pt-buck 06-21-2018 09:49 AM

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. This is the second new off the dealers lot vehicle I've owned.

Yes it's very exciting having a brand new car in the garage. That new car smell. Parking it way in the back of the parking lot when I go out to avoid someone hitting it with a shopping cart or chipped paint from other careless driver opening their door on to mine.

This is the dealers sticker that was on the car. Should have included these in my original opening post.

The premium Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint was a additional $900.00. In the twilight hours the car stands out from the rest.

My last car was also a Buick Century, they're cheap and pretty reliable. I upgraded to a Mercedes a few years ago. :upsidedow

I like the exterior but the interior seems pretty standard to me for a 30k car.
But overall, nice choice.

I didn't want to say it myself... Only old people buy Buicks. I have no idea why.

Then again, I said above I want to buy a old Pontiac.

I did haggle. Offered $27,000.00 in cash too. They were not selling it for 7k below the MSRP. I wanted to unload that Buick too. My mechanic said one of these days the break lines were going to fail due to all the corrosion under the car.

Thanks. Quick too. I have a Classic Nova SS / 350-300hp. This Impala can make short work of my SS. Insane gasoline consumption in this Impala reflects that too.

No doubt. I have Bluetooth, Satellite, 4G WiFi, etc. It's like my office on wheels. The Buick was bare bones basic.

Thanks. Long story. I bought the Buick brand new from the dealer too. I was doing the family thing. The wife drove it too. She didn't want to drive anything outrageous.
Fast forward to today. Kid is grown, Buick is gone, Wife has her 2017 Cadillac Escalade as my 305 horse power mid life crisis Impala is parked out in the garage.

I liked my Buick too. My mechanic strongly advised me to get rid of it due to all the corrosion on the undercarriage. It was a death trap.

Thanks.
It's not necessarily the interior. The Sun / Moon roof was extra / Extra $ for the paint. Extra money for the 3.6ltr engine.

My Impala LT V6 is basically a Impala Premier. The only thing missing on my Impala is the chrome trim running down the doors. The Premier's MSRP is anywhere between $34 to $36,000.00.

I was doing the dad thing. The wife drove the Buick too. The wife was not and is not in to anything fast or sporty. I bought her a brand new Escalade last year. This year it was my turn. She does her thing, I do my thing and in my opinion, that is the best way to live.

bronco67 06-21-2018 05:03 PM

Really impressed by the horses they put in these mid level sedans these days.

I have a 2017 Nissan Maxima which has about the same horsepower as the Impala and it definitely has some balls. In comparison, my 85 Mustang GT had about 300...or maybe it was 350.

baddog 06-21-2018 07:12 PM

My first car was a 59 Impala that I "restored" after a fender bender from parts off a 59 Bel Air. Total cost after selling the remnants of the Bel Air to a wrecking yard, $65

I sold it a few years later for a few hundred.

348 V8, slip and slide powerglide transmission. Less than 50,000 when I got it, from people that bought it from my uncle when they were 70.

It blew my mind the horsepower this Impala has. Blowing my mind looking at the gas gauge going down every time I accelerate. I own the last year for the Nova SS. It's a 1973 350/300hp. I don't know which consumes more gasoline, the Nova or this Impala.

Sounds sweet!
Years ago I purchased a running 1965 Impala SS with the factory tachometer in the middle of the dashboard. Paid $400.00 for the car. No idea what was under the hood. It ran, it was in fair condition. Three days later a guy offered me $1000.00 for it and I took it.
Would I love to have that car back and my Snorkel hood Canary Yellow 73 Mustang Fast back too.

8pt-buck 06-22-2018 10:25 AM

Car was filthy with under 200 miles on it. Gave it it's first bath after spending a good $40.00 at Auto Zone for new car care products. It has a roomy backseat too.

If its a new car get it nano coated by a garage or do it yourself. Or use a sealant like nufinsh

I haggled / The nano coat was part of the haggling down purchasing agreement. It was done by Chevy or it would have voided the 5 year manufacture Iridescent paint warranty. That bargaining chip saved me $700.00. I have 100% bumper to bumper coverage / bumper to bumper dings, scrapes, scratches, just bring it back to Chevy and they remove them without any out of pocket expense on my part.
They were nice enough to buy me lunch. It was early afternoon and the wife wanted to go to Applebee's. I was thinking Surf and Turf but she said don't be a asshole.

I love the new Impala.

Unfortunately, I've got 4 kids and am not a fan of big SUVs. I just bought a new 2018 VW Tiguan. It's small and actually has three rows that hold all the kids.

I'm not to down with the SUVs either. I tried Toyota, Lexis, Honda, Kia, this Impala turned me on. I have one kid 31, Bi lingual, 05LTC, US Army. Stationed, Camp Zama Japan and his wife is with him. So when he comes home, he has a Impala to drive.

Comments are greatly appreciated
Thank you!

that paint is a 3 stage painting procedure... hard to blend... I fucked up the mirror on a caddy once with that paint.... the dealer had to paint the entire 1/4 panel to blend the paint across... I could still see the fix

I drive a 2016 Cadillac ct6 with 3.6 and all wheel drive about 65K plus tax etc. not top level but 2 steps from the top... no turbos and no 32 speaker sound system or seat massagers or rear DVD screens

I thought methanol injection was run off a boost/pressure gauge because you want it to inject just at the right time.

Looking under the hood is strange. I’m used to my 60’s classics and not seeing a carburetor is confusing. Consoles? Seat belts? Stereo? My daily driver had that and more but I prefer simplicity. I did add an FM radio and C D player *shame*

My grandparents drove Impalas and loved them. Cars back then were made right. Today they look like they’re made of tin.

If the older Buick had rust, you must be on the East Coast. Two of my classics had rust and needed complete restorations. The California cars had zero rust which I’d never seen. New England weather is hell on cars.

What made you go with American? Brand loyalty?

There are no carburetors in 21st century as well as no gearboxes. Very soon there will be no human drivers too.

Chevy is a fave when it comes to brand names. You're right, I miss my carburetor cars as daily drivers.
Adjusting the points / my MSD ignition / 3hrs changing the water pump and that's removing the radiator too.

I still have the 73 Nova SS tucked away. I bought that years ago because it's the last year for the Nova SS. Miss my canary yellow 73 fast back too. It had the 351W with the fin on the trunk. It looked good but the engine was tired.
You're right, funny the Corvette I owned had the basic factory dial adjusting AM/FM radio.

When I drive the Nova, I leave the radio off. Can't hear it anyway over the loud exhaust. 350 / 300hp / Headers with 3" pipes attached to cherry bomb glass packs. That car is loud. When I downshift at night, the street lights up red fire from the backfiring.

I installed interior toggle switch On/Off red lights in the wheel wells along with windshield wiper tub in the trunk with the lines running in to the wheel wells so I can soak my own tires. Soak the tires, flip the red light toggle and when I smoke em up, the tire smoke appears to come out red.

Does this white garage look familiar? It belongs to a small little shack in Lawrence Township, NJ where a 56 year old troll lives. Notice the red house next door, who's white Impala is that in the driveway...

Any idea American Pervert / 8pt-buck ?
