When I get pulled over and get a speeding ticket, I am not thrown in jail and my child is not taken away from me.

Until just recently, when someone crossed the border illegally they are processed and quickly sent home. On April 6th Sessions adopted a new policy to prosecute "all such violations to the full extent possible". Suddenly instead of sending people home we are holding them an prosecuting them, which means holding them in jail.... It didn't occur to anyone at the Justice Department that we would see a huge increase in people being held and prosecuted, and that some of their people would have children that would need to be held in a different facility. How they couldn't see this would happen in advance is mind blowing.

If they want to prosecute everyone who comes across the border, that's fine. I can even get on board with it. However, they need to plan a bit ahead on this and need a better plan to handle children.

His cult followers spent the past week defending locking up kids because they thought they were bowing to their leader and now Trump just left them out in the rain and threw them under the bus. They are now running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out what position to take.

There's an interesting theory that Trump wanted all of the backlash he was getting because he thinks he was shoring up his base, and he probably was. This is pretty scary because it makes me wonder what he will try next.
