Well, the exchange rate is based on relativity. The Canadian economy doesn't need to go in the shitter for the dollar to stay low..... it just need to maintain its current relative performance to the US economy.
That said.... the US dollar is going into the shitter. You will probably look back at todays exchange rates in 4-5 years and wonder how we had it so good. IMOComment

US companies spend a ton of money in Canada precisely because it's a better deal for them. The weak Canadian dollar is what puts food on Canadian tables. We are not the United States. We are essentially a branch plant economy and as such need to attract foreign (US) investment.
