Fuck the prime minister says he's going to legalize small amounts of weed and follows up with "hey hey, now don't start smoking it allready guy" and our dollar is somehow higher?
A month ago it US$1 = A$0.60. Now its almost 63 cents. Means I lose about $40 on an average contract. However, the new figure skates im about my girlfriend are $65 cheaper

Question is how much higher will the loonie go, and will we get a retracement before it goes higher to be able to convert those greenbacks to loonies at a better rate?
You guys actually want your dollar to remain below US currency and care not about your COMMONWEALTH but only about US exchange rates, just so you make more money?

hahaha
funny.
I think you about hit the nail on the head there, Fletch. Hell, our country has a high standard of living! We've already PROVEN we don't need a high dollar to live well! Why does the dollar have to go and rise? It's blasphemy, that's what it is!

It's a cold harsh place. Every pornographer for themselves.
You are no better than people who fake job hunting and have more kids to get more welfare.
a person who does less for himself so someones ELSE does MORE.
weak.
I'd like to know how so? Considering I spend my money in Canada and contribute to the Canadian economy, as well as paying my taxes. I do just fine for myself thank you very much. Or do you remember I run mainstream businesses as well? My supplies are bought from CANDIAN suppliers. How is making a bit of extra money a bad thing?

Oh and as a side note, I was speaking generically, as in our economy seems to be doing well with a lower Canadian dollar value. I wasn't speaking personally. Next time, try a little tact, eh dear? :P
Originally posted by hayesone By the way, I think a large part of the reason the Canadian dollar appears to be rising is because the US dollar is dropping.
I don't want Canada's economy to do worse, but as long as I get paid in US dollars, I want the US economy to stop fucking up.
Why would I remember that? Don't act as if I know you, I have no clue who you are what you do, as if i SHOULD know who you are?
hahaha
Well it's been mentioned quite a few times, in threads I've seen you in.. FIgured you might have figured it out. Then again, doesn't matter much either way :P

That sure sounds like a 'speaking personally post.'

Well, the exchange rate is based on relativity. The Canadian economy doesn't need to go in the shitter for the dollar to stay low..... it just need to maintain its current relative performance to the US economy.
That said.... the US dollar is going into the shitter. You will probably look back at todays exchange rates in 4-5 years and wonder how we had it so good. IMO

Sorry Fletch, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Canada's economy relies on a weak dollar because it attracts investment from places like the United States. US companies spend a ton of money in Canada precisely because it's a better deal for them. The weak Canadian dollar is what puts food on Canadian tables. We are not the United States. We are essentially a branch plant economy and as such need to attract foreign (US) investment. If the Canadian dollar rises too high, it will discourage this investment.

Yep.. Like Masked Man said, it makes our products less appealing to the US market, there are a lot of US companies that have branches up here to keep costs lower, etc. AMEN.
