Actually, for an island with limited resources, Cuba's doing pretty damn well in providing for the health of its people. There might not be too much variety in food but people are not starving. Also, the preventive health care and education systems rivals developed world standards.

Compare Cuba to Nicaragua and you see what I'm talking about. Nicaragua's latifundio system and feudal society means poverty. Cuba = poverty but at least with healthcare and education. I'm not a pro-Fidel socialist groupie but I give credit where credit is due.
