Canada is the United States’ largest partner for energy trade

https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/im...03.01/main.png
Canada is the largest energy trading partner of the United States. Based on the latest annual data from the U.S. Census Bureau, energy accounted for about 5% of the value of all U.S. exports to Canada and more than 19% of the value of all U.S. imports from Canada in 2016.

https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=30152

"The U.S., on the other hand, gets close to 50 per cent of its energy from coal-fired generating stations.
Canada's extensive power grid offer a stable source of clean electricity for many northern states. By purchasing this energy, as opposed to building more coal plants, the U.S. is working towards its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions."

Not anymore! Trump decide to build more coal plants , Making America Great again..... LOL

Actually messing with people's money..and probably lives in some cases to deflect. He's such a fucking sociopath. There's no low he won't stoop too. Is been very disheartening to find out he was this much of a scumbag. I knew he was not a person of high character, but he's been exposing himself in the past year as pure scum.

..and the pardoning of all the criminals is bad enough on its face -- but then there's the transparent reason behind it which is to let anyone who would roll on him know that they have a pardon waiting for them...which is obstruction of justice. He's the worst criminal in history. You know Trump and Giuliani were sitting around trying to figure out how to work this so it doesn't look obvious, but gave up and just said "fuck it".

He just does all of his nasty business out in the open for everyone pick up on and say "uhhh, I see what exactly what you're doing dumbass". If Trump was playing poker with you he would have Rudy Giuliani behind you looking at your cards and then pulling Trump aside to "talk about something not related to the poker game"...and thinking you didn't know what was going on.

I for one welcome a new round of trade talks, i feel NAFT fucked Canada over bigtime before. I would like for countries to be paying fair price for our resources and goods. Now is the time to stand strong, build more infrastructre for ourselves, stop sending any oil out unless it is for final consumption. Timber full price, any minerals full price. Any resources at al...full price.

you're in for a shocker if you think USA needs Canada energy. And those figures are wrong, 50% of our energy does not come from coal energy stations, it's 30%. Almost 40% of our energy comes from nuclear and renewable energy.

trump didn't decide to build more coal plants.

I'm not worried at all. the amount of energy we buy from CA amounts to <1 day of energy for us, it's trivial.

I don't agree with trade wars or trump, but let's be real, the USA doesn't need Canadian anything. If you guys want to thump your chests, go for it, USA will be fine.

dyna mo 06-01-2018 08:12 AM

And speaking of trudeau, CA energy and the USA- CA needs USA for trudeau's big oil and pipleline bros, it's not the other way around.

How else will trudeau destroy the environment and sell 170 billion barrels of CA sand oil without the USA and pipelines? he won't.

Regardless of how you come down on trade issues, the above quote is the end result. Would the US suffer in a trade war - sure. But the US controls it's own destiny and everyone else will suffer MORE if they want to fight. They know it and now we have a President who knows it.

I have a hard time believing that people here negotiate in their own lives the way they expect Trump or the US to negotiate with other countries. You look for a win/win if you can, but you don't negotiate to lose.

holy fuck the arrogance here. We own the resources. 2 big refineries built properly here and we no longer need to send oil south. I don't know why it hasn't been done before, probably because of backwater fucked up good ole boy deals. the end result is Canadians paying more money for gas than americans for our own gas.

ok...no chest thumping needed here. I for one welcome the chance to develeop more in house and sell fully made products to the outside world. Our products carry a brand of quality and being made right, and properly. They will do well in the world market.

Few big ships a month on each coast and we are cool.

Somehow our energy making properties were sold to basically gangsters in the usa...this should be rescinded immediately as well..the prices tripled the month after, this energy, which you say is not bought from canada because it is owned by some us mafios...is feeded norteastern usa

I had hopes he would work out for CA. He talks the talk well.

I looked a bit further, CA also needs USA deep water ports for shipping oil.

Currently, some 98 percent of Canadian crude exports reach the United States, where it sells at a discount to world prices.

Again, I dislike trump very much and disagree with trade wars and tariffs. I like our northern neighbors.

dyna mo 06-01-2018 09:00 AM

i fully disagree with trump putting tariffs on CA goods, but trudeau is royally scheming Canadians. He's making you pay $16 billion in carbon taxes and CA still won't achieve its promised goal of carbon reduction via the Paris Accord.

Ottawa and the provinces will rake in more than $16 billion from carbon pricing between 2018 and 2020, while failing to achieve the Trudeau government’s 2020 greenhouse gas reduction target.

My $16-billion estimate — the bulk of which will be paid by Canadians in higher taxes and prices for most goods and services — is a conservative one.

It doesn’t factor in the full financial impact of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s mandatory minimum national carbon price of $10 per tonne of emissions, which kicked in Jan. 1, rising to $50 per tonne in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Trudeau government has already conceded in its recent report to the United Nations under the Paris climate accord, that Canada won’t achieve Trudeau’s target of reducing emissions to 17% below 2005 levels by 2020.
