My new home office

My old Alienware PC is ten years old and dying slowly.... I've had to replace the cooling system twice, the on board networking has failed, and one of the two graphics cards has failed. Now the the second graphics card is having issues so.... It's new PC day - Another Alienware Aurora but much newer. First time having a PC with SSD.

The old PC is huge and easy to work on. Sometime in the next few months I'll put a new graphics card in and fix a few other things...

I work alone really. I have two work stations because I've always had two PCs - one for daily use, and one for a "back up" although it wasn't much of a computer. From time to time my wife would use it.

I am used to work with big monitors so i just noticed.

kane 05-26-2018 05:23 PM

No. No one wants to see me naked these days. Depending on exactly how old Baddog is, I am either half his age or two-thirds his age.

CaptainHowdy 05-26-2018 06:20 PM

Slick office indeed . . .

I have a laptop that is SSD but never had a PC. I was too lazy to get get around to it.

My goal with the old PC will be to take it down, install a new graphics card, and a new SSD drive.

Spunky 05-26-2018 09:03 PM

Very cool home office setup.

Nice to see another Alienware user here. Pricey, but powerful and well-built. ;)

SSD is the only way to go.

Got a Dell Precision 7400 with two cpu's and 32gb ram. Very fast and you can have as many open windows as your heart desires.

It's a back up. I work from home and I am responsible for my own computers. I've always kept a second PC in the event something happens with my main PC, so I can just move over and keep working. It's come in handy a few times. The second PC was also used by my wife from time to time.

The "back up PC" is my old PC now, which is barely working.... It needs a new video card. I'll working on that in the next few weeks. That PC is huge, ten years old, and I've had to replace the liquid cooling system two or three times.

I have an ancient Alienware from before Dell(?) took them over. I don't use it anymore, but have kept it as the second drive has died and I need to pull it someday to see if I can get pictures off of it.

It was for sure a good machine.

Nice setup, Rochard! I like the desk.
