. . . was my last official day of working for the man (I had to burn through my vacation days, sick time and floating holidays first). No regrets.

Cant relate, i never worked for anyone , except freelance things.

I don't remember the exact day, but it was November of 1998 that I started working for myself full time so I'm coming up on 20 years. . . damn it has flown by!

20 years for me

This coming October will be 20 years. Besides a part time job I had while in high school I only worked a few shit jobs for a few months here and there before doing this. Glad I could keep it going for 20 years, Hopefully I can do another 20 as it seems my goal of becoming "rich" is not going to happen. At least I can make a living.

22 years for me, although I had a short period in 2007 and 2008 where I had to follow someone else's schedule. That sucked almost as bad as working for someone, but not quite. Unless you choose when and how much you work, you are not free.

i always admired people who have a kick for entrepreneurship. i'm lost in the maze of the freelancer lifestyle and all of its circumstances.

i have always been jealous of the over-all freedom of what the entrepreneurs have, but then again i don't really need the stress and eternal financial limbo that comes with it :1orglaugh

as a friend of mine pointed out (also lurking here): there are two types of people. one, who works so has money when s/he works, and one who works so has money when s/he isn't working. i'm the former, he's the latter.

I see that some say you never worked for anyone.
In such a case it is way harder to create a good office atmosphere.
You need to have the employee-experience in order to understand your own employees and handle their issues better.
