25 years ago today . . .

. . . was my last official day of working for the man (I had to burn through my vacation days, sick time and floating holidays first). No regrets.

SuckOnThis 05-26-2018 11:57 AM

So you stopped working for the man when you were 75?

Klen 05-26-2018 02:35 PM

Cant relate, i never worked for anyone , except freelance things.

kane 05-26-2018 02:45 PM

Congrats!!!

I don't remember the exact day, but it was November of 1998 that I started working for myself full time so I'm coming up on 20 years. . . damn it has flown by!

Sweet so 25 years ago you started working for your customers, or you started working for your advertisers?

GAMEFINEST 05-26-2018 03:27 PM

Everyone works for someone

20 years for me

BlackCrayon 05-28-2018 08:36 AM

This coming October will be 20 years. Besides a part time job I had while in high school I only worked a few shit jobs for a few months here and there before doing this. Glad I could keep it going for 20 years, Hopefully I can do another 20 as it seems my goal of becoming "rich" is not going to happen. At least I can make a living.

ilnjscb 05-28-2018 08:37 PM

Congrats on a quarter century of freedom.

22 years for me, although I had a short period in 2007 and 2008 where I had to follow someone else's schedule. That sucked almost as bad as working for someone, but not quite. Unless you choose when and how much you work, you are not free.

14 years now :)

davidCRM 05-30-2018 12:09 AM

i always admired people who have a kick for entrepreneurship. i'm lost in the maze of the freelancer lifestyle and all of its circumstances.
what to say, i'm a good employee.

Hey it is literally symbiotic, we could not exist without you, and vice versa

thanks man :thumbsup reassuring to hear it

i have always been jealous of the over-all freedom of what the entrepreneurs have, but then again i don't really need the stress and eternal financial limbo that comes with it :1orglaugh

as a friend of mine pointed out (also lurking here): there are two types of people. one, who works so has money when s/he works, and one who works so has money when s/he isn't working. i'm the former, he's the latter.

LeRoy 05-31-2018 10:07 AM

Hope you're doing well baddog!!

brassmonkey 05-31-2018 10:12 AM

what did you do? building bikes?

loreen 06-01-2018 03:11 AM

17 years (I only worked part-time before).
100% no regrets.

Matyko 06-01-2018 06:31 AM

Congrats!

I see that some say you never worked for anyone.
In such a case it is way harder to create a good office atmosphere.
You need to have the employee-experience in order to understand your own employees and handle their issues better.

^ QFT

the weaker CEOs I had were CEOs who have never worked regular jobs in their life. They miss that certain perspective.
