Somehow it never occurred to the Trump people that having war games in South Korea might be a bad idea. NO ONE in the White House said "Gee, maybe we should look at what our military is doing is cancel any major upcoming events and perhaps put them off".

Trump did this on purpose to fuck up peace in the Korean peninsula since he's been left out of the loop, which is how it should be.

for me in this situation, I think the words/rhetoric are important. A big difference in messaging of "little rocket man" to "honorable". sign posts at the least. And certainly part of the game of nuclear detente.

Foal Eagle, a yearly exercise with the South Korean military, is now scheduled to begin on March 31 and run through May.

Trump didn't do this on purpose. These drills and war games are planned out well in advance. Some of them are done yearly.

However... Trump and his administration should have known that such a joint exercise could cause problems. At the same time, Trump is so desperate for a win that his is tripping over himself to get to the summit that he failed to figure out this is what North Korea does - bait and switch.

the uneducated fail to realize NK & SK have been at war for 50 years. Of course SK would welcome USA help and they have, for decades. Joint military exercises are a part of that.
