What's the most money you ever found or lost?

I found $50 once.

Several years before that I misplaced my wallet and probably lost about $100. I found $20 on a few occasions.

Never found anything but once lost 20$

CaptainHowdy 04-30-2018 11:26 AM

Making a shitty gallery and making a sale out of it was like finding money on the street for me ...

kane 04-30-2018 11:39 AM

Lost, probably about $50 when I lost a wallet that had some cash in it.

Found, would have to be about $3K. Many years ago, right out of high school, I worked for Radio Shack for a little while. On Sundays I had to close up and make the bank deposit. When I arrived at the night drop slot for the bank, sitting there on it was a deposit bag from a local auto parts store. It had about $3K in cash and a bunch of receipts and other things. Apparently the manager had two things to deposit and set this one down while he deposited the other and forgot it.

$2200.

The state of California has this "unclaimed property" system where if a company owes you money they pay it to the state, and the state waits for you to claim it. (https://sco.ca.gov/upd.html).

One time my wife was hurt at work, and part of her settlement was to leave the company. Some time after that we moved, and they were unable to reach her. They decided they owed her $2200. Sweet.

Did you think about returning it?

I did return it. The deposit slips had the name of the company on it. I took it and drove over to the store (it was near by) and they were closed so I called the emergency number posted on their sign. The manager didn't even realize what had happened. He told me I likely saved his job and was actually in tears. It was a nice feeling.

I had a life insurance policy I was paying into for 15 years. back in 2014 I decided to cancel it because I figure my heirs will get enough when I die lol. Turns out it was a whole life policy that accrued $150k I had absolutely no idea. 150k of found money :thumbsup

adultchatpay 04-30-2018 03:42 PM

Converting it to USD, i lost $200 in a bar.
Found $80 in a cinema and i thought it was just a trash.

NatalieK 04-30-2018 04:03 PM

found wallets on the street with money & returned them to the owners, but also found a 20 on the road once, spent that...

then, low and behold, lost 20 a few years later.

Karma huh :thumbsup

i think i once accidentally gave $100 tip instead of $10 - shit all looks the same - especially when drunk. Proper money has different sizes and colors.

Wow that is awesome.

At my first job one of my tasks was to deposit checks at the bank (something I did everyday) but one Friday I lost one of the checks. I wasn't sure where, but I figured most likely at the bank itself, so I spoke with our account manager and he asked security to check the video footage. On Monday he called he and said they saw where I lost the check, how someone else picked it up and cashed it at the teller. They got us the money back and the other guy probably had some explaining to do.

I love when security cams catch people doing shady shit.

Caught a cam whale in 09 that dropped $25k in 2 weeks. I started looking at cars but he vanished lol

Rochard 04-30-2018 08:09 PM

Oh... speaking of my wife.... Once she had he truck repaired at our local shop. She picked up the car and drove it home, and as she pulled into the garage she noticed a deposit bag on the floor in her front seat.... Turns out it had (we are guessing) about $1k cash plus checks... Someone was ready to make a deposit. We quickly returned it.

GAMEFINEST 04-30-2018 08:24 PM

50 EUR... found it in my winter jacket. Ah, that feeling when you find something in your pocket. I was so happy. My life has changed significantly after this discovery. I am still carrying it with me to keep the memory of the good times.

When I as very young I found a wallet that was absolutely stuffed with cash under my seat in the cinema. I handed it in straight away as tbh, there was so much money in it that I was almost frightened to be holding it.

Never found anything else cash wise since, but I did find a skateboard years ago, that my parents took to the police yet the police called a month later saying it had not been claimed, so if I wanted it, it was mine - I loved that skateboard :)

TampaToker 05-01-2018 01:57 PM

While not actually money when i was 17 found a winning superfecta ticket at the dog track for $86,156.34. Soon as i turned 18 i toured the whole country till i ended up in South Beach Miami and got chased home by Hurricane Andrew.

We've found 8000HUF (approx $30) when arrived to the beach with 3 friends, it was enough for our meal and ice cream.

Andreweb 05-03-2018 12:22 AM
