What are pros and cons of las vegas Move?

Who here has lived in las vegas or lives in Las Vegas?
Always thought of moving there.
What are best places there.
I like henderson. Might try Next year if it all works out.

Robbie lives in Vegas. He might be able to comment.

Everyone I've ever known who has lived in Vegas has loved it. There is an endless list of things to do in Vegas...

I lived there for six months last year and didn't like it--it's basically the Strip surrounded by miles of suburbs. The summers are, of course, very hot, and although I like hot weather (100F here in LA doesn't bother me), Vegas was too much.

There's great hiking and camping and some amazing places close by (Death Valley is about two hours drive away). But for me the negatives far outweighed the positives.

I have several friends from CA who've moved there, and a typical conversation I had with them about why they moved went like this:
Me: So what do you like about Vegas?
Them: Nevada has no state income tax!
Me: Great. What else?
Them: Um... er... Nevada has no state income tax!

Full disclosure: I don't gamble or drink alcohol, and really hate suburbs.

Before moving I would seriously consider how well you handle unexpected tragedies in your life. Those shit hole weekly hotels around the strip are full of doctors and lawyers down and out. The town does has no sympathy.

I imagine some people love it, some people hate it.

I hated Phoenix and how hot it was. I can't do that on a yearly basis.

Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - until you see the footage on the internet. :D

It depends on where you are moving from. I moved to Vegas 3 yrs ago from LA. I hated LA. I would never go back to LA.

Compared to LA, Vegas/Henderson/Summerlin is heaven. Half the price, 1/4 of the traffic, 100% of the same nightlife, everything from shows to concerts to great restaurants.

You just have to be careful where you choose to live...

I've been a resident for 10 years, although I have spent half of that time in Europe traveling.

InterNext Show every January, following by AVN consumer show.
No State Income Tax.
Lots of $10 Buffets.
Good bus system... no light rail.
Many 3 lane roads (in both directions) with 1 or 2 left turn lanes. U Turns are legal.
Lyft is very good.
Full range of shopping.
Amazon has next day and Sunday delivery!

(Male) Models can be hard to come by, because so many have all the work they need dancing in bars, or being show floor models at trade shows.

My CraigsList ads (for men) don't get the replies they do in the LA section.

There is a definite difference in ethnic proportions. If you're white, you might be lonely.

I've hoped that more of the industry would move to Vegas for about 10 years.

I checked out Henderson online, Did research on housing markets, apartments, jobs and how far from Vegas it is.. its def cheaper then California ( fucking getting more expensive overall) Henderson looks good, I am looking for places that that has a good night life and things to do at night and a good place to live and work as well.

Thanks for the feedback all! more welcome.

If you live in Henderson there are only 4 places to live... McDonald Ranch, Seven Hills, Anthem and Green Valley. McDonald Ranch is very expensive but it has some outstanding houses. Seven Hills and Anthem are the more expensive than Green Valley and are up on the side of a mountain which makes them a little bit cooler than the Strip - about 5 degrees cooler and there are great views. The temperature does make a difference and theres more breezes up here.

Green Valley is nice but older and its in the flat part of Henderson and its the closest to LV so some areas like South Green Valley can get sketchy. Close to the 215 is where you want to be in Green Valley.

Henderson is better than Summerlin IMHO - its 25% cheaper, its closer to the 15 and to the airport.
