One of the worst movies of all time, and it's not even a superhero movie.

Saw the genre and description for this movie.

"A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence."

Genre: drama/mystery/horror

So i expected a movie where the tension is being built up by the arrival and possibly weird intentions of these mysterious guests. A solid mystery thriller type of movie with a climax.

It gives the illusion that exactly this will happen at the beginning when the first and second guest arrives.... but the short sporadic visions of the girl when she touches the walls of the house during this first part of the movie already set me up for a more unrealistic plot, it felt like the haunted house approach. A big let down, but i thought, there are very few exceptions that haunted house movies turn out good, so lets hope this is an exception.

But its none of the above... by the time i realized what this movie actually is about, or better said, tries to depict... it's just completely pointless to sit through it until the end. Once you know what this movie is about, you will be very disappointed. Because that's it, there won't be any twists or conclusions or whatever. I made the mistake to keep watching it (which was very annoying), because i was hoping for something more because i couldn't believe this was it. It is.

Everything that happens is just part of what you already know and isn't essential to be in there. If they cut out half of the movie, the idea of the movie is still the same. If you cut out 90% it's still the same.

SPOILER:
It's one giant god / creation / world metaphor, crammed with metaphors of specific, mostly biblical, events. Some people will call this pretentious. Other people will call it a masterpiece and the critics of this movie 'not smart enough'.

I think it doesn't even deserve the 'pretentious' label. It's just a depiction of metaphors, that's it. It's very shallow in this way, and completely pointless. People who think they're smart and call critics of this movie 'not smart enough', are actually the ones who are very easy to impress with stuff like this, therefore are by far not as smart as they think they are.

This movie could take my personal #1 spot of worst movie of all time from Captain America the first avenger. I'm not sure yet. I'll put them both on #1 for now. You have been warned!

Not surprising coming from you.

You've stated many times here that you hate Hollywood & you hate America.

You've pretty much ruined your ability to watch any movie because you attribute whimsical alt right conspiracy messages and government control to every film you see.

Why waste your money?

You'd be more entertained watching old black and white nazi propoganda clips with Hitler in your mom's basement :evil-laug

He's incapable of enjoying anything. I wouldn't expect a moron like him to understand a Darren Aronofsky film. You may as well be trying to teach a dog to play backgammon.
