Ready Player One

Quick movie review, no spoilers!

Went to see Ready Player One tonight with 3 friends. I liked it. It's not my favourite movie but I still liked it. If you are a crazy-fan of 80's pop culture you'll love it. The movie is cram-jammed full of references and easter eggs to other movies, video games, etc.

There is one scene, right in the middle of the movie that I did not expect at all and completely blew me away. It was cool as fuck and done really well. I actually gasped it was so much fun. I won't ruin it for anyone but to me it was the highlight of the movie.

Not really worth seeing in IMAX, which is the the format I saw it in. The 3D is good. Acting is fair. Music is fun. (80's!). Visuals are beautiful. Oh, and seeing the Delorean Time Machine on the big screen again was nice.

Agreed. I went to see it in Imax and apart from the odd specially-crafted scene, its not a 3d triumph. Still, really enjoyed it - it's slightly predictable, far-fetched fantasy nonesense but then isn't that was 2hrs of Saturday afternoon movie time is about?
Good stuff

Well I think the important question for quite a few of us here is - did it make you want to go out and buy a vr headset?

Going to take the kids to see it at some point over the easter holidays. Il just go see it in standard 2d then. Im patiently waiting for Avengers Infinity War at the end of the month. Expecting that to break all sort of box office records

Im looking forward to seeing it when it comes out for home release.

My son and his mom saw it. He is 12. He really enjoyed it and she said for her movie of the year.

My older brother loved it. Kept talking about. He is a Sci-Fi and retro 80s fan though.

A few other friends have told me it was pretty good too.

I know the part you're talking about and I'm glad they didn't give away any of that in the trailer. I was ok with the movie most of the way through, but the final act was awesome and felt like classic Spielberg.

For me, no, not yet.

The graphics and worlds of today's VR headsets is really good but not nearly as good as what we see in the movie. Plus, the main character is wearing a full-body tactile haptic suit (interesting!) and walking / running on a 360 degree treadmill (nice again).

But soon though.... maybe this summer.

I think your kids will love it. The movie itself is kind of a throwback to kid-based adventure movies of the 80's even though its a futuristic movie.

I forgot to mention that the 3D in this movie isn't blurry and isn't too dark like some other movies are. If you have to see it in 3D go ahead - you and your kids won't be disappointed.

Fucking Yes!!! I can't wait. They showed a new preview of Infinity War at RPO yesterday but I didn't watch it. I just closed my eyes because I don't want to know too much more about it.

I really enjoyed it. I saw it alone at 1am. No one sitting in front of me. Laughed a lot

SilentKnight 04-01-2018 04:54 PM

VH in the soundtrack.

I'm in.

kane 04-01-2018 05:51 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully this week sometime I can. I loved the book.

Sly 04-01-2018 08:40 PM

Saw it tonight.

Enjoyable. Ridiculous amount of pop culture references.

GAMEFINEST 04-01-2018 10:30 PM

It was good.
