Here is the code to Prevent Hotlinking of Movies.
I can't paste it all in here b/c it uses banned words such as ja.va.scr.ipt. There URL for the page is:
http://www.zoink.org/prevent-hotlinking-of-movies.html ( There is 1 blur popup) People are constantly looking for this, so here it is sitting on a URL for reference. ZoiNk |
Thanks!

No problem to the ppl saying thanks.
Go ahead and post it. I sent a few hours trying to search google and various resources and boards to try and find it. I know others have the same problem too, hence why I did it. ZoiNk |
I use a similar approach, however you combine that with php and with memeber auth and you got a winner.

Was this thread actually started a few days ago or a few years ago? :)

We're going to try it...
In any cases thank you bro :thumbsup |
Not good for movie galleries. Most tgps ban java script so page won't even get listed.

Hmm... could you have some PHP code that temporarily adds a unique u/p to a htpasswd for that directory, and then a crontab job expires them 10 minutes later? That way you can link to them like:
http://1234:[email protected]/movies/mymovie.mpg The catch is that if the u/p expires before the surfer clicks on the link, they'll get a password prompt. A way around that would be to use a u/p that expires a certain number of times after it's accessed. That way a couple of friends handing around the URL on IRC works ok, but a site hotlinking it will stop working after 5 loads. |
