Bush signing that misleading domains law today

Don't forget to update your mainstream domains redirecting to porn sites today.

The redirect party's over.

That was a pretty good run for a lot of webmasters.

Yep, gold mines were made redirecting bankrupt dotbomb domains to porn. The bankrupt dotbombs poured $$$ into promoting the domain then they crashed. WMs swooped in and redirected to XXX to cash in.

Times...they are a achangin'

I don't know how far they'll reach with this from an international standpoint. And how big a priority it will be right now or if they even have available resources to start the crackdown yet.

But if you have servers in the US, or offices in the US, or domains registered through a US registrar, or process through a US processor, I imagine if they want to fuck with you they can and will.

We'll know when the crackdown begins. Because I'd bet a million that WhiteHouse.com will be the first to get popped by the Feds.

It will be interesting to see what happens when they go after the first one. Because the bill says its domains that mislead children to porn. White house .com doesnt really do that, donald duck spelled wrong would do that or other things kids like spelled wrong would do that or freecandy.com but not like thehun.com

Well tony, that's the game. Make the law as vague and open-ended as possible and let the courts decide. Govt. has a pretty strong case however you look at it, unforunately. Unfortunately, the real problem is parents who let their kids surf without supervision and who don't take steps to watch over what their kids do on the internet.

Another excuse for bad parenting.

Yeah I'm sure whitehouse.com is the first to go! Suprised the White House and the federal government didn't just pay any price to get that domain name from who ever owns it!

This law will get knocked down very quickly. Any of you rich adult webmasters want to take them to court? You would win.
