Who here mines coins?

Is mining as easy as:

1. buy hardware such as http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/x11-asic-miner/

2. Plug it in, does it need a monitor?

3. Connect to interenet

4. Set wallet

5. watch coins go into wallet after completing block?

Is it as simple as above?

Thanks

I was mining for bitcoin when the value was a little higher, but I already had a GPU rendering farm to use.

Go to Nicehash to set up as a miner. I wouldn't recommend it if you have to buy the hardware and set it up, because it'll take you a long time just to break even for that purchase.

You can buy this from a service. The do all the hardware and electricity, just pay you.
Supposedly. If you want the name of a German guy doing this, pm me. But I can't vouch for him, just a lead for info.

A friend of mine it's doing that, looks like will take around 7/10 months to cover the investment. But i'm not so sure how much time will the hardware keep working

I've tried using minergate witch is aimed towards newbies, it seems simple enough but I don't really have the machinery to make much of a dent mining. I actually get a better hashrate on my phone than I do on my desktop! :D

I did it in the early days and it is a nearly 24/7 time consuming job.

Yes but it can be an expensive way to do it if you're not careful.

If you want to use dedicated miners like this one, buy a fast one direct from the manufacturer, but be ready to sell it 6 months later as faster ones will be available. You will always need faster and faster miners.

If you just want to do it as a hobby without spending too much, buy a PC in parts, and buy a few extra and fast graphics cards. In fact, get the fastest ones that companies like nVidia have to offer. The more GPU's you have the faster you can mine. Use Nicehash to do the mining. It works well, is really fast, and well supported.

Using a PC + several GPU's is a cheaper way to do it, and it is easier to sell / swap / upgrade to faster GPU's as time goes on. You can set it up in your basement and then use VNC or similar to connect to it from your main computer.

If you don't feel like messing with the hardware, just buy some bitcoin and trade it on services like coinsquare.

Have fun!

the problem with not having a dedicated miner, a reasonable pc or laptop, an i7, with dedicated nvidia can still over heat. Mine gets up to a steady 90c using nicehash :2 cents:

What about using wind power?

Would it pay for itself eventually?

adultchatpay 02-24-2018 07:09 PM

Mining is not worth it at this time. Imagine competing with big companies who uses hangar to set up their rigs. ROI will take time and by the time your miner is already burnt.

There's some altcoins I've been mining on and off. You can swap them for bitcoin, litecoin or cash pretty easy these days.

EonBlue 02-24-2018 07:42 PM

I've been mining some.
