Trump is backing a 25-cent federal gas tax hike

strange .... I thought that the GOP was the no tax increase party .... probably didn't read well ....

by 0.25/gallon ....

A big hit on the rich ..... :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

but for lower income people, this could wipe out half the great tax cuts of Trump ...

Our gas just went up twenty-five cents per gallon.... California has the highest gas in the fucking country. It's gotten old.

crockett 02-21-2018 09:39 PM

Trump also backs allowing private companies to collect tolls on our highways and still having tax payers repair the roads..

GAMEFINEST 02-21-2018 09:51 PM

Fucking ridiculous.

I need to get the fuck out of California. Worst tax state

kane 02-21-2018 09:59 PM

This is how it works. Cut income taxes which then causes the deficit to go up then cover for it by raising things like gas taxes, car registration taxes, and various other licenses and fees.

yeah but some companies gave out 1000$ one time bonuses because trump cut taxes for the rich so MAGA! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

if only there was a clue that somebody would have to foot the bill for these tax cuts :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

So pay higher taxes.

The government has to raise more money than the taxpayer is prepared to fork out. So it borrows. Putting your children into debt and probably their children.

What he said.

To the OP this won't hit the poor so much, they can't afford to drive far.

Yes Home Depot gave associates with 20 year tenures $1000 one time (this year only) bonuses which cost them 384 million $. They saved 11.5 billion in the tax cuts and will save a similar amount each year for the next ten years. The rich are winning and the poor get scraps ?

Watch Home Depots share prices shoot up this year :thumbsup

This actually hits the poor more than anyone. Gas taxes make commuting costs go up. If you ride some form of mass transit the price of that can go up. Licenses and fees and little shit like this can quickly nickel and dime you to death. If you are making a decent living you likely won't notice it, but if you are poor, it can suck.

So.... We still have to pay taxes to repair our roads and then they will have us pay tolls to use them?

Utterly brilliant.

Taxing gas might not work at all because people have "budgets" for gas.
If the budget is x per week then that's all they are going to pay because they
will go to the store less, stop joy riding, car pool, drive light footed and cut the AC off.

I'm not going to finance my gas so I can only pay what I already pay.

I'm in favor of higher jet fuel taxes. :winkwink:

My brother uses about 75 gallons of gas a week driving to and from work. It can vary depending on which job site he goes to, but he drives a truck that is needed for work. Luckily for him, the company he works for pays for the truck and gas for it. If they didn't he would be looking at about $900-$1000 a year in additional costs just to get to and from work. He makes good money so that amount won't really bother him, but if he were making $25K a year or something like that, it damn sure would. And like you say, someone in that position has to drive and get to work so they will cut that money out of something else.

If the company includes that extra $1000 into it's formula for "return on investment" then
they will pass the cost onto the customer for $3000 per year.

:2 cents:

pimpmaster9000 02-22-2018 03:55 PM

it did kinda MAGA for the rich people tho :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
