got some of those lately... but whats the difference exactly??

A refund is where the surfer goes to your processor and says "I want my money back", so they reverse the charge.

A chargeback is where the surfer goes to his or her bank and says "I didn't make this charge", and the bank dings your processor for the cost + a fine.
