model trains eh?

MuleScrote 04-29-2003 09:27 PM

I used to have a pretty elaborate set-up when I was younger. I put all the time into it myself since my father was an abuse, over-worked, alcoholic prick.

I am now starting a new one with my oldest (4) son. He thinks it's just the greatest thing to ever happen to him.

:thumbsup

Shit...I'm late for a meeting with my therapist!

Smegma 04-29-2003 09:30 PM

This is the exact same reason I am doing it. For the last 5 months, every time my 2 year old son saw a train.. he would freak out.

We just got a small 5 car set and an oval track. He is in awe.

I was heavily into model trains as a kid and up through high school. Unfortunately I don't have the time or space for it these days.

kmanrox 04-30-2003 01:07 AM

i would love to run the train on some models...

dugmor, where ya at man?

AOLGuy 04-30-2003 01:09 AM

I seriously thought this thread was about "running trains" on models.

Like some sites don't specialize in it?

Ice Cube: "Yo E - she's a berry, let's run a train."

of course, my favorite exchange:

Eazy-E: "Man, I wouldn't touch that bitch."

Ice Cube: "Me neither, hoes go home and wash out your beaver."

I always thought Ice Cube was saying:

"Hoes go home and watch Al Jabeeba."

I figured he was some black talk show host out of LA or something...

I was 12, what did I know?

Tell me about it. I was big into N-scale for a while I was going to build a coffee table set up... I was completely consumed by it. Day and night I slaved, and it grew, and grew... when we moved I trashed it.

Sort of an "if I can't have it, no one can" type of thing.

adamneve 04-30-2003 01:15 AM

nah, just into models:Graucho

As a kid, my father surprised me one Christmas with a huge custom train setup he built for me down in our basement. Mountains, little towns, dual tracks. That gift rocked.

I fucked it up though cause we wanted to do what Pugsley on the Adams family did with his train sets. So me and my freinds taped firecrackers to the bridge and blew the train up as it crossed. It was cool as shit til my old man found out.

I recently paid 6k on a O-Gauge Engine.

What type scale and gauge you like?

O Scale is expensive.
