If your phone did everything?
 

i was looking at new cell phones the other day with a friend and i can't believe what they have out!

if you could work from your phone, (ie, take pics, shoot video, surf the web, email, watch tv, etc...) would you chuck your computer?

i'm still at the point where my phone is my phone, my tv is my tv and my pc is a desktop that i love.

i think i'm beginning to understand what older people, who weren't brought up on computers, go thru when they aren't interested in changing their ways :winkwink:

Hahaha, I know exactly what you are talking about. I was with a friend of mine the other day when he was looking at new phones. The salesman asked if I would be interested in a new phone too. My reply was "Why? This phone does everything I need". It wasn't until I was walking out the door that I realized that my father says the same thing about his VHS VCR when we try to talk him into a DVD player. It suddenly clicked with me...I am OLD!

I heard a guy using a PDA flat panel phone in a store yesterday. Pretty cool little device. Reception was crystal clear and he had it on speaker phone mode.

i watch a collegue of mine use one of thos pda's (or whatever it is) and he can work on servers, type stuff, check and send email. i mean this thing has a keyboard 1/2 the size of a floppy! it's insane and i think, laptops were a big step for me, why in the world would i use something so small (and i have a hard time typing on a laptop).

in addtion, my friend has one of those small fuji laptops and trying to work on that is like trying to dig for the hope diamond!

i think i am getting old :(

In a couple of years pda's, cameras, and phones will merge only makes sense, why carry around 3 things when you can carry around one

you're right. i just believe that everything should be kept seperate. when i'm away from this pc, i don't want to hear ding, ding, you have mail. same when i'm away from the phone. i certainly dont want to hear it ring and if it does and i'm not in the mood to answer it, i don't want to.

with all meshed into one, i would feel responsible to answer the phone, check my mail, yadda..yadda...yadda. :)
