Thinking of renting "Wind River", It looks good.

I already watched "American Made" that was pretty good. Didn't like the new "Blade Runner".

Sly 01-29-2018 06:23 PM

Not a movie but last week I watched The Punisher on Netflix, that was a great watch.

bronco67 01-29-2018 06:26 PM

The Punisher was pretty good...and Wind River was my favorite movie of 2017.

It's made pretty clear early on that rape and murder falls under federal jurisdiction and that the locals need help with the case because most small departments are not equipped to handle such a thing. I grew up in a small town. When I was fairly young there was a murder in town (the first in about 20 years) and they brought in a group of officers from several different places to help. This is a very common practice and has nothing to do with race.

Books?

I read 50+ last year.

Maybe 10 movies.

2MuchMark 01-30-2018 02:05 PM

I haven't seen any good new movies in a while... 2017 wasn't too exciting for me, movie-wise.

2018 looks better: Black Panther, Ready Player 1, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant Man and the Wasp, are all movies I'm looking forward to seeing.

Of course the best movie to come out will be in 2019, when we get to see the latest STAR TREK movie, directed by QUENTIN FUCKING TARANTINO... !!! (Google it)

Sure as an individual, but at least in general there is a consensus that people read less books nowadays. Not sure true or not (most likely), but at least saying that would have some merit.

While saying movies is unfounded, what makes him think that "nobody watches movies" ? :)

Regardless of the actual law/treaty/reality, it's a movie. Nothing more. The writer/director uses an age-old storytelling device by making the protagonist a fish out of water.

You see racism, I see an entertaining movie that kept me very interested throughout.

He's complaining about a movie he hasn't seen.

The new Electric Dreams series Season 1 on Amazon Prime is a stunning sci fi shorts series .

I pretty much never come on here recommending movies or series but this series is amazing and each short is about an hour long. The first one of the season has Terrence Howard & Anna Paquin and it's about being entangled in a VR world. It's extremely well done.

Here's a trailer, it doesn't do it justice though.

I mean, just the name, "movies". It's no different to "talkies". It's a relic of a bygone age, and the sexual harassment scandals only serve to highlight this. The likes of Harvey Weinstein and Woody Allen are living breathing stereotypes of at least 50 years ago, who simply do not belong in the modern age.

If you want to watch films, I'm sure there are many great independent films being made outside of Hollywood. I was never really into films, so the death of Hollywood is no great loss for me.

Bladewire 01-30-2018 07:16 PM

^^^ Two foreign nics that hate American culture trying to ruin a thread about good movies.
