There was a post floating around facebook a few days ago where a person suggested that for those who reach retirement but can't afford to live in a $7,000 a month retirement home on their $1,000 a month social security that they should instead buy a $300 gun and shoot one politician. This way it removes one politician from our society and the retiree gets 3 hots and a cot for the rest of his/her years. Win, win..

I'm beginning to like the idea.

In California you can now grown and buy pot, but if a waiter who serves a drink with an unrequested straw in it would face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.:1orglaugh

This isn't a law yet. It is just something put forth by one crackpot. Somehow, I have a feeling this won't be passing, but stranger things have happened.

That's not true. Why lie?

pimpmaster9000 01-26-2018 03:00 AM

I hate to say it but its a good law that protects the environment from unnecessary waste...I do not agree with the 6 months jail shit, there should be some minor monetary fine...it would be a good law to pass IMO...

yeah nice, 1000$ is good price for that

This part of the article made me giggle;

The Los Angeles Times has gotten behind the movement, endorsing straws-on-request policies in an editorial that also warned that "repetitive sucking may cause or exacerbate wrinkles on the lips or around the mouth."

Why not just ban plastic straws?
I mean at least try to be less stupid.

Helix 01-26-2018 04:22 PM

Well, it is California so....

Rochard 01-26-2018 04:35 PM

This is just common sense. Straws are bad for the environment, so let's make a law to stop us from using straws. In fact, we did this with plastic bags. Again, common sense. At first I was annoyed. How can I get my stuff to the car without a bag? Eventually you learn to carry your own bags.

They aren't going to fine a waiter for serving a drink with straws. However, they will fine a restaurant owner if they continue to offer up straws without being asked.

You blink at being fined 1k for a straw, but wouldn't notice it when a military contractor sells that same straw for 2k to the military
