Donald Trump Falsely Claims Tax Bill Means ?We Have Essentially Repealed Obamacare?

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump on Wednesday heralded Republicans? tax bill for its provision repealing the Affordable Care Act?s individual mandate by incorrectly asserting that the health care law as a whole had been repealed.

?When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means Obamacare is being repealed,? Trump said at a Cabinet meeting that seemed to double as his airing of grievances before the holidays. ?We have essentially repealed Obamacare, and we will come up with something much better.?

This is demonstrably false. The law still remains, after Republicans? failed efforts to repeal it earlier this year. Republicans have devised ways to fundamentally weaken Obamacare?s provisions because they have not yet figured out how to repeal it outright, as HuffPost?s Jonathan Cohn reported.

essentially it did repeal Obamacare, without the individual mandate Obamacare can't survive, but in the end I think thats exactly what both parties want, ultimately government, both Democrats and Republicans would, like to see Universal coverage and in truth that was Obamacares real shortcoming, the ONLY way it will work is with single payer like it or not. For that to happen the government has to raise taxes somewhere, or cut spending only a true idiot would think that Washington DC is going to cut spending enough to fund Universal care...think about this for what we spend on incarcerating non violent drug offenders we could provide healthcare for every man woman and child. The war on drugs, if ended, would provide MORE than enough funding for Universal care, but that wont happen because it takes too much power away from government and the goal of government is always always always...more power.

So dont be fooled by all this BS including so called Tax Reform, the only way we will fix the income tax is to do away with it, replace it with something like the fair tax, or Value added tax if you must but the income tax is by design a burden on the average person, the middle lower to the lower upper class shoulders the burden.

By removing the individual mandate, this "tax bill" has effectively killed the ACA. The entire concept behind the ACA was forcing people to sign up to it, lowing the costs for everyone. Removing the individual mandate will remove thirteen million people off of healthcare, and costs are going to sky rocket.

This is just insane. Taxes will be cut for the filthy rich and large corporations, the deficit will go up dramatically, healthcare will go up dramatically, and nearly all social services will be cut. Oh, and "maybe" the middle class will get a small tax cut which will be wiped out by our healthcare costs quadrupling.

If you are not fined for not having insurance: mission accomplished.

It's really great to see one half of our government take joy in deliberately sabotaging the health care of millions of people who need it. All in the name of having one win before the year is over. They're a bunch of scumbags.

Haven't you read reply number 2? Apparently this did not happen and Trump lied about it essentially being a repeal. :winkwink:

I'd guess that will be the major saving most will see.

I can't think of one good scenario from that, but plenty of real bad ones.

FUCK THE FUTURE!! Make money now..

The ACA has been fatally injured and will dead sooner rather than later.
