Hostgator

I ask sales "Will you definitely move my blogs over for me if I sign up for a new account"

Sales "Yes!"

I ask tech support "I've just signed up for a new account, please can you move my stuff over"

Tech support "Here's a link for wordpress blogs: https://www.hostgator.com/help/artic...o-another-host "

I'm been there so long :upsidedow I've been with worse, difficult to know where to go. I did move some stuff somewhere else to save money, but next thing I find they don't have CPanel which makes me feel like I've got my hands tied, at least they are cheap though and reliable so far

For me Hostgator is a bit like Microsoft Windows, I hate it, but I know it, it's going to be a lot of effort and risk to move from it

wehateporn 12-03-2017 05:57 AM

after I explained they now appear to be doing it, but wouldn't surprise me if some bill appears at the end

HG has been my worst experience with domain and hosting services. It might look like cheap until you spend 3 days waiting for an answer from support. That is a big loss and even bigger if you're the admin and have someone else paying you to keep the site up.

Like with windows, might be some effort but I see more risk in being in the hands of a supplier who doesn't care about your customer experience.

HG was good before, how is now days?

You should check out our VPS plans. They're great, with really excellent support for a small fee. Completely free move assistance, even if you pick a plan with no support.

HostGator sold to EIG a few years ago and since then their support is no existence.

Try Hostwinds or Hawkhost, they have cPanel and are much better than HG.

I would not call it cheap. Paying monthly how much is it? At least 10 bucks? Or maybe A LITTLE less for the smallest plan where you could only host 1 domain.
Copuple-few bucks is cheap for a shared host, HG is not cheap, it is +- average. Cheap compared to the best/expensive ones.

I had a site for a few months. Unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space and no questions asked.
It was a free trial that only lasted 3 months but boy did I take advantage..

I gave up on cheap hosts. I actually realized a lot of my videos weren't playing due to connection limits on the cheap hosts. Sometimes I'll be working on the site I'm blogging on and when I hit save, the server times out and I lose the work lol.

Definitely better now that I have a server to myself.

it depends on the size of your blogs. you expect them to move a 1tb blog for 19.95 a month?

wehateporn 12-08-2017 12:23 PM

"Thank you for contacting HostGator migrations.

Before we can proceed, we do need to inform you that there will be a fee required for this migrations request, as you have requested more migrations than your plan
comes with for free. After careful consideration of the content to be migrated, we have generated a quote for the amount of $75.00 for this requested work. If you wish to continue, please respond with"I authorize the charge of $75.00 to my account" and we would be happy to proceed. Please be aware that this quote is only valid for 48 hours, after which time we would need to re-examine the content and formulate another quote."

wehateporn 12-08-2017 01:03 PM

If they break their promise I will be asking for a refund
