what makes a good affiliate program?

When you see a site announce that it has an affiliate program open what do you look for in the site and in the program they are offering? What aspects make a site appealing to you as a webmaster choosing to promote it? Do you expect something different from new sites?

quiet 04-26-2003 10:58 PM

honestly guys, what are aspects that you consider when you are deciding to promote a site? What things make a site appealing to you, as a webmaster, when choosing to promote it?

Y'know this is something I hadn't thought of when asking the question, I was thinking more specifically in terms of content, tours, etc, but this is a really good point. Thanks for your reply! :)

I think more than 10 full sets (15-20 pics in each set) is good. And it's important to update this promotional content in 1-2 months :)

Of course FHG is very important nowadays.

Good webmaster area (comfortable interface, beautiful design - it's only usability...). To find an excellent software for this look at my sig.

Casacading billings. Good rebills.

24/7 support.

Angelonfire 04-27-2003 12:11 AM

kisskatlyn please can you email me

[email protected] or ICQ see my sig..
Thanks

My list might be slanted because I run such a program.......

- The most important thing is to have fresh content on the tour that no one else has......
- Personally, I'll only promote sites with real member's areas. Why bother pushing a site that won't retain?

TheJimmy 04-27-2003 12:24 AM

No offense but the last time I looked at XXXRami it had less content than even 1 tgp. Did I miss something?

What is cascading billing? Is that the same as monthly recurring rebills?

slavdogg 04-27-2003 03:50 AM

dont care about anything but good conversions
pay per sign up
and most importanly unique sites, unique or new niches.
Sites that make you stand out from the crowd will make you a winner.

kisskatlyn 04-27-2003 12:50 PM

before I let this thread die I'm just wondering if anyone else has anything to add. The reason I am asking is because I want to build a site and would like to offer a really good affiliate program with it so your input is really appreciated :)

FATPad 04-27-2003 12:54 PM

On the affiliate program site I look for the following:

Large payouts in big flashing numbers. "$50 per trial signup!!!" is good. Lots of exclamation points are a must.

At least one pic of a stack of $100's. More pics of more cash preferred though, but at least one is mandatory.

A couple shots of a lamborghini or a ferrari are a must. If you can make them animated so much the better. I like blinking objects.

That's all I need.

easyfun 04-27-2003 01:25 PM

The thing to look for is originality -
There are thousands and more programs to choose from including mine - But:
Look for third party billing - This can not be fucked around with meaning you get full payment.
However 'glitzy" the program site is, check that other webmasters actually promote this site - (You dont want a site just about to go out of business as several do every day.)
Some offer far too much promotional tools - Big business entering this arena with cash to throw on gettin big profiles usually lease and purchased their products - Poor retention rates!
Above all, look for honesty (That cuts out sunnydollars.com and a few more)!
Also - Choose 3-4 or even more - depending on your traffic.
Also - Be active - Use your imagination to create traffic. Do tgp's and avs sites and work as if the sites you are promoting are yours - That way, you will make cash -
Hope this helps you!

I agree I start slowly but surely.. its a amateur site so its good to see changing here and there and gradually.. most not be static ..the fantsy stuff comes later,,, the content and pleasing members who pull out there credit cards are the one I want to please. So I have to conentrat on important stuff step by step without trying to go to fast...

Thanks Flesh XXX

bananas, apples, timely payments, chips, speakers, water, high conversion rates, hosted galleries, professional look, bonuses, prizes, security, and vaseline intensive care renew & protect moisturizing lotion. you have to be in full control of every piece seperately also control of the whole thing as one.

someday this can become a reality---> :eatmouse
