I bought these a few months ago. They fucking loud and the bass hits hard. They come with a reciever and a amp. Also some extra audio outputs. Ohh and remote control for the reciever..

Good luck

#3: Klipsch Promedia 4.1

5.1 --> Dvds, possibly music
4.1 --> Games

Klipsh speakers SOUND great but they are made like shit. I have the Promedia 2.1 and have had to get them replaced twice due to faulty wiring.

Mine work fine, and have worked fine for a good 1-2 years now. Heh.

Why would he be joking? The new Klipsch Promedias are the best sounding speaker system you can get without stepping up to a full component shelf stereo. I've listened to hundreds of sets and nothing else even comes close.

You've got two options really..

1. BOSE - Usually very pricey, but beyond excellent quality.

2. Logitech - I thought they were as shitty as their webcams, but it seems that they did their homework when it came to speakers. VERY good quality speakers and woofer, also you can get it for way cheaper than say a Bose system. Dell is actually selling the system for $200.

SBJ 04-27-2003 09:23 AM

Three letters "THX" is the only way to go! These are the speakers I bought and I'd stack them up against my last set of Bose anyday Altec Lansing 995 THX 5.1

Tala 04-27-2003 09:26 AM

I've a buddy who has his system hooked up to his Bose surround sound setup. Most of his music is on his machine, but it does get annoying listening to the sound effects of his video games at volumes that could make one's ears bleed.:glugglug

Machete_ 04-27-2003 09:31 AM

I use this one:
http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...pID=5100&sID=1

They have remote (im lazy) and the soud is great (5.1 digital)

These are good to:
http://europe.hercules.com/showpage.php?p=35&b=1&f=1

They are CHEAP and do your basis studd, with a REAL good sound quality

Go with Bose. Not because my brothers wife's father owns it either. lol

TheFLY 04-27-2003 09:45 AM

Just get the correct adapter to connect the audio from your PC to your main stereo system...

:thumbsup :thumbsup I agree with that list.

New Egg sells the Pro Media 5.1 for $358 WITH shipping, so you can't beat that.

winter 04-27-2003 10:00 AM

I have promedia 5.1... they've busted twice now.... waiting for the 3rd ones to come soon. Sound great, but they aren't built to last.

AdultNex 04-27-2003 10:09 AM

Along with your speakers, don't forget you need a quality sound card.

Go with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz -- The best card for it's price, you can't beat it! :thumbsup

<img src=http://www.retroaudio.ru/others/speak/images/Yamaha%20NS-10%20M.jpg border="1">

Yamaha 10ms.

almost any cd you buy today was mixed using these speakers. in almost every major recording studio in the world.

even Dr Dre mixes through 10ms.

:winkwink:

iroc409 04-27-2003 10:21 AM

i've had the klipsch 450w 4.1's for 2-3 years now, not a problem with them, and they are the best sounding PC speakers i've heard. i've not had a single quality issue either.

the logitech's are nice. not sure about their sub, i can shake my whole house with this klipsch.. literally.

Fletch XXX 04-27-2003 10:24 AM

why bother with all the lagniappe?

just run that shit to your main stereo towers.

thats what i do.

talk about shaking the house.

fuck computer speakers, use TOWERS

:winkwink:

Soundblaster Audigy surround out to a pair of Grundig surrounds with an active bass unit
main output to a yamaha dsp-a592 amp which feeds a pair of Bose 901's, and a pair of Wharfdale Valdus 400's, a pair of Sony surrounds, a pair of Sony front speakers, a pair of GenExxa centers, active base unit with 2 surrounds and a pair of Sony SA-VA15 with surrounds.

Lots of noise :glugglug

MarkTiarra 04-27-2003 10:42 AM

I've had a number of different setups and I have a recording studio so my needs are pretty unusually high. I'm assuming you don't want to go all the way out to a studio card and real speakers/monitors so I'll tell ya' that the absolute best regular PC speakers I ever used were these:

Why would anyone listen to music on flat monitors?

Sure they are wicked studio monitors, but they are very poor home stereo speakers. They're made to sound flat.

I have a question to all of you people that claim that it's best to hook your home stereo system up to your computer.

How the hell can you enjoy playing games in surround sound when your stereo is half way across the room OR do you setup your stereo by your computer every time you wanna game, ha ha ha. Even if the stereo is sitting on the side of the computer, I wouldn't think that it'd give you the same sound environment as having a computer surround sound system setup around your computer.

Wouldn't you miss out on a lot of the 3D sound aspects of most games ???? I know that it's nice having the sound rite here in my face when I'm gaming.

davvve 04-27-2003 06:54 PM

Buy a couple of Canton speakers powered by a Denon amplifier.

Be sure to get a 7.1 set up not a 5.1 that is yesterdays news.

kveldulv 04-27-2003 08:13 PM

Get 2 pairs of Sony Savas, they fuckin rock :)

If you're after better sub bass, An extra sub unit wouldn't go astray either.

:2 cents:

jimmy3way 04-27-2003 08:15 PM

You guys are all, to a man, full of shit.

The best speakers for a home computer and NHT's powered, shielded monitors.

Period. They walk over that Klipsch crap, that Cambridge junk and that Altec shit. All day.

http://www.micguys.com/nht/nht_m00.htm

They fucking own. There is nothing else.

Anybody who disputes this has not heard them.
