The value of buying expired domains, that have search engine traffic.

I have been scrambling around lately, doing as much research as possible on buying up expired domains that have good placement in the search engines. I am mainly looking to buy domains to feed the orders for my adult traffic I sell.

I have been searching the search engines and the boards, including this one, trying to find as much information on this as I can. One thing I noticed is some recent mentions of how Google has been taking measures to prevent people from doing this. People have been buying domains, with good rankings, only to lose that placement soon after buying the domain.

What's the story? Have you guys heard anything about this? And if so, is it still worth it to try to go after these domains?

From my previous thread, I learned that Google spiders the domains (noone knows when).

However, it is still possible to reg a domain name that's in the Google database and still maintain the PR rank and placement. But you have to catch it immediately after it drops.

I have heard about this too but I don't know when it supposedly started. I do know I bought a domain around 2 months ago that maintained PR even after the lastest update.

Comments on Expired domains

This GoogleGuy is a representative from Google. I have quite a few expired domains that have retained PR. He however says in the thread that the process of resetting dangling links will take a few months.. so it's something to keep a look out on.

there are many things at play here... the ones that maintain their PR ranking is coz of linking towards the site.. some ppl leaving their links to ur domain.

its really not the best traffic anymore.. google got smart

and dont forget, if someone removes ur link, the next google dance, ur gonna be less ranked.

I'd say it's reasonably valuable if you don't just turn it into an FPA.
