Thailand and pornographic material

Bangkok-based rights group iLaw has warned that anyone with pornographic material on their computers or other data deemed illegal could be jailed.
The group noted in a Facebook post this week that Section 16 of the Computer Act was revised last December to protect the dignity, reputation and personal information of any ?damaged parties?.
Section 14 of the legislation sets out other types of material considered illegal that also could be ordered destroyed by a court.
It covers false information, including any deemed likely to damage national or economic security or the public at large, information constituting a crime under the Penal Code, and information of a ?vulgar? character. Section 16 covers any image of another person that?s been electronically doctored in such a way that it could hurt that person?s reputation. Section 16/1 says a court could order such data destroyed, order its ruling published in various media outlets as appropriate at the defendant?s expense, and order other remedial measures for damage caused.
Failure to obey a court order to destroy illegal data as covered in Section 14 and Section 16 will face punishment in half of what is stated as punishments for those violated the Section 14 and 16. The Section 14 is punishable by up to two years and six months in jail or a fine of up to Bt50,000, while Section 16 is punishable by up to one year and six months in jail or a fine of up to Bt100,000. The rights group said keeping illegal data on a personal computer or online, whether for personal use or public access, was a violation of Section 16/2. The revisions to the Computer Act gave the court the authority to order such data destroyed and specified that possession alone was a crime. Previously the court could only rule that posting such data online was a crime.

The same law works on the Ukraine. When you cross the Ukrainian border, the customs officer may ask you to show him the contents of your laptop. If you will be caught with porn in the computer, you will get a jail time for that.

Just FYI.

Have you been to Russia? The roscomnadzor blocks all sites that look like child porn for them. Those guys can find it anywhere. For example a legal age teenager with a "young-looking face" or hentai is a child porn for them, so they block a whole site. That's how pornhub was blocked and then unblocked again because "doubtful content" was removed.

In Russia we have no criminal punishment for having porn. Only illegal production and distribution are punishable, but nobody knows which porn is considered legal and which is illegal one. For example, my TV provider has 3 hardcore porn channels in the packet. Seems they are considered legal for some reason.

They show zoo porn footage in the popular prime time talk shows on federal TV... Google for "панин сосет у собаки". This was shown on a TV channel which has no age limit and considered as "safe for kids".

Maybe, maybe..What I do know is that I used Russian IPs few times and they got some porn sites (legal of course) blocked. In UKR I can access what I want ("normal" of course)...

putting laws in life that noone knows how to enforce , sounds like a truly wonderful reason for corruption, bribes and extortion...thats my opinion at least :winkwink::winkwink:

The same as here. For example vk.com, yandex.ru, mail.ru etc are blocked on the Ukraine.

Yup. I use Yandex Mail as my personal mail service (American). When I was in the Ukraine, it took me like a week to realized that Yandex Mail was blocked.

That's a really dumb way to take a stand against Russia: block useful services to their own people.

Ukraine must have very, very little leverage when it comes to Russia if that's all they could come up with.

They can search you for porn entering Australia

Travellers to be searched for porn
