The New Firefox Update

What do you think?

awxm 11-16-2017 08:43 PM

Seems faster

SpicyM 11-16-2017 08:49 PM

a bit faster, but the layout sucks

Spunky 11-16-2017 10:25 PM

Digging it,much faster

Barry-xlovecam 11-16-2017 10:57 PM

3x faster (it seems on LINUX)
I like it so far.

Freedom6995 11-16-2017 11:08 PM

looking good

XSAXS 11-16-2017 11:21 PM

People still use FF? I mean it's not as bad as IE, but....

ZENRA 11-16-2017 11:50 PM

It's very good except that tabs can no longer be placed at the bottom and for some reason uploading videos to Twitter makes FF use a ton of CPU (didn't happen with 56 and earlier).

MFCT 11-16-2017 11:58 PM

- Ugly interface
- Possibly faster, but nothing is slow on my computer so its hard to tell
- If you rely on plugins, say goodbye to many of the most useful ones.

For me, pros don't outweigh the cons. If you're on Linux, you can easily downgrade back to 56 with all plugins intact and working. Download the deb (or it may already be located in /var/cache/apt/archives/) , open terminal, and enter

Code:

sudo dpkg -i <deb name>
and you'll be running 56 again in about 5 seconds.

brassmonkey 11-17-2017 12:00 AM

my plugins died :( noscript waiting for the updated. i only use chrome for certain task. the new firefox is ok. taking out the bottom bar and properties tab a fucked up move.

The Porn Nerd 11-17-2017 12:39 AM

Now I have to click on bookmarks.....meh.

Sites and programs change up design sometime just to be clever and often it sucks ass (as with Windows 8-10 for example). Pointless.

ZENRA 11-17-2017 01:12 AM

Got tabs working on the bottom of the page.

https://github.com/Okamoi/UserChrome...r-Windows7.css (works on Windows 10 too)

Create file called 'userChrome.css' and paste the above code linked in the above github site.
Create a new folder called 'chrome' in your FF profile folder (find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/wiki/userchrome).

Restart FF and tabs should should now be at the bottom of the page *where they belong*.

Care to share a screenshot of your setup? I've never used browser tabs at the bottom. Do you find that to be more efficient?

My setup is regular FF with tabs at the bottom.
I've always liked tabs at the bottom regardless of browser. Windows task bar is at the bottom with tabs so why not your browser too? Top = menus, bottom = tabs is the way I've always had it.

Klen 11-17-2017 04:46 AM

My biggest concern with firefox but other browsers as well how it have high CPU usage, tho depending on how powerful CPU is. On notebook with low specs it's like a running game not browser lol

CurrentlySober 11-17-2017 04:53 AM

i think I cunt a4d the New Firefox Update... :(

bns666 11-17-2017 04:57 AM

looks ok so far...

Barry-xlovecam 11-17-2017 05:38 AM

If you want to be a part of the Google ecosystem use Chrome
If you want to be a part of the Microsoft ecosystem use Edge (renamed IE)

I replaced a lost add-on with a terminal command (partially) to view the headers sent to the browser. Mozilla's Firefox probably killed a lot of ad-ons with sloppy coding and now made them incompatible as a trade off for speed.

Seems to me that the GUI interface is a progression (easily adapted to) but looks VERY square cornered.

Oracle Porn 11-17-2017 05:50 AM

how do I change the blue tabs to be normal grey color?

Barry-xlovecam 11-17-2017 05:55 AM

That's weird my tabs are the default gray color. Maybe you added a theme that turned blue?

Denny 11-17-2017 06:00 AM

It's really faster, just needed to customize the layout a bit.

THIS! And this, and this. ^^^

wehateporn 11-17-2017 07:44 AM

First day the blue tabs were annoying, now I seem to be getting used to them. The one thing I did need to fix though was to move my refresh button back to where it belongs :321GFY

yuu.design 11-17-2017 07:49 AM

still my 3rd browser option

PiffStenis 11-17-2017 08:15 AM

I'm liking it. Faster and doesn't freeze. Though most of my plugins don't work - guess the they'll catch up before too long. Layout is kind of retro.

Plutocracy 11-17-2017 09:40 AM

I use it. I have firefox on one browser and crome on the other! I thinks its faster!!!!!

CaptainHowdy 11-17-2017 12:05 PM

Hardly use it.

JustinWWW 11-17-2017 12:44 PM

i like the new looks.

Rochard 11-17-2017 12:51 PM

I use FF only for testing, etc. Otherwise I haven't paid too much attention to what they are doing. I did read an article about it yesterday and the writer claimed to be a Chrome guy, but really liked the new FF.

Perhaps I should check it out.

I used the Morning Coffee addon daily. Now that it's gone, the daily routine is a pain in the ass.

I also noticed the square tabs with the shitty drop shaddow on the top. It does look stupid. I totally agree with the recient tabs thing. That will create problems for a lot of people. Including me.

Well, I have found you can change the color scheme to grey to get rid of the dark tabs. (tools > add-ons > themes)

By recently visited sites ,you mean those displayed when you open a new tab? You can edit that too - click the customize icon in top right corner.

I have also moved the refresh icon next to the url bar, it used to be inside the bar before.

bronco67 11-19-2017 03:32 AM

If you think a web browser will make your internet surfing faster, you need to get a faster computer and/or internet. No web browser is going to make or break an internet experience hampered by a shitty ISP and computer.
