any coldplay fans?

they fucking rock...

lagwagon 04-26-2003 02:27 AM

thats funny i was just listening to clocks. i better not have a preference for track lighting here in the near future, otherwise i will have to kill myself.

Jakke PNG 04-26-2003 02:27 AM

I'm not a fan, but I don't necessarily change the channel when they're on.

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 02:29 AM

which album u like better?

GTS Mark 04-26-2003 02:37 AM

Coldplay is awesome!

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 02:39 AM

anyone see them live? ive seen the ma few months back here in new orleans... put on a good show, to say the least... they have some excellent visuals that go great with their music, gave me chills almost every song

lagwagon 04-26-2003 02:41 AM

i will say that i like that song but i will never go and see them. they are also something that i would never just jam out in my car.

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 02:45 AM

yeah its chill music, i listen to drum and bass in my car

and freestyle to it :Graucho

[Labret] 04-26-2003 02:50 AM

first cd good, second cd bad.

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 02:52 AM

second cd is as tight as the first, but still tight in a different kinda way... some songs are really ghey though

quiet 04-26-2003 02:54 AM

i like them. especially the first cd - it was a true album. 2nd cd: some good stuff, some bad - but no continous flow from song to song like the first album. and the second one got way too much fucking airplay.

i saw them in Montreal, very good live show.

yep.

although I only just got the second one and thought it might be like the first few times I heard the first - a little boring, I needed to have it on repeat during a sydney-ballina trip to let it sink in before I really dug it.

"clocks" is good though. Three of four more songs like that on the album and it would be as good as the first.

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 03:18 AM

listen to "warning sign"

justsexxx 04-26-2003 03:27 AM

:thumbsup

Swoit 04-26-2003 04:55 AM

Coldplay are fucking awesome :thumbsup

I'd jump at the chance to see them in concert!

Sarah_Jayne 04-26-2003 05:22 AM

agree with the first cd good, second bad thing. Classic difference between being a band on the up and a band who knows they have made it. Can't deny they can play and I rather liked 'Yellow' but on the same accord I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them.

Coldplay and Travis are almost interchangeable to my ears.

EscortBiz 04-26-2003 06:43 AM

1 word: TROUBLE

:thumbsup

Coldplay rocks my world

Chris E 04-26-2003 07:42 AM

Seen them here in the UK at Glastonbury, before they were really famous and they were awesome then... seen them since and they weren't as good. Still a top notch Brit band though :thumbsup Powerchutes is my preferred album.

Do you guys like Travis aswell? They are similar sounding British band.

B Sandwich 04-26-2003 11:04 AM

why does it always rain on me?

tsp 04-26-2003 11:07 AM

coldplay rocks..:thumbsup

Antonio 04-26-2003 11:48 AM

thumbs up :thumbsup

vending_machine 04-26-2003 11:51 AM

I saw them live at the Paramount in Seattle and it's one of the best shows I've been to.

I think the opposite. Their new stuff seems more complete.

funny, that is exactly what I was thinking about. I wasn't at Glasto but watched it live on the BBC. Both Travis and Coldplay played amazing sets at Glasto the years before they made it big. Goosebumps on your arms good. For Travis it was Driftwood that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and it was Yellow for Coldplay.

Then, they both went to the States and had some success and came back with slicker albums and less passion on stage. It happens all around so it isn't really particular to them but it is hard not to compare their current feel to the memories of those emerging moments.

That said, bands like Coldplay and Travis are the kind that are still going to be around in 10 years if they want to be.

ColdPlay "Music to hang one's self by"

Jon 04-26-2003 01:53 PM

I really like them. That song "Clocks" is just spectacular, love the laser visuals when I saw them live, and it makes you want to play air-piano throughout the whole song.

I have to admit though, when I first heard their songs, I thought they were a bit of a spinoff from Radiohead, but now I don't think so much of that, because some of their songs make sense, unlike Radiohead...

:thumbsup

Sarah_Jayne 04-26-2003 02:27 PM

never associated them with Radiohead. Interesting.

Martin 04-26-2003 02:54 PM

Cold Play is a great band.. If you like that England pop rock stuff check out Charlatans UK.. Good stuff..

Honeyslut 04-26-2003 03:40 PM

I have the one called Parachutes

topal 04-26-2003 06:49 PM

they are depressive... if you like trouble and in my place. you are in depresion :glugglug anyway.. they are cool.... :1orglaugh

more jeff buckley than radiohead, once I got past that and actually let the hooks sinks in it was fine though. Travis aren't a patch on coldplay, their second album was shit too. "driftwood" and "why does it always" were the two songs that made the album.
Some of you guys might like mercury rev although it's a good step removed from those two bands.

Sarah_Jayne 04-27-2003 02:38 AM

i don't do drugs but Mercury Rev always strikes me as a band that would be good to be stoned to.
