Going HTTPS, How to not Fuck Shit up
Hey guys,
I am going to make the switch from HTTP to HTTPS, but after seeing many posts about people losing traffic after the change I would like the help of the GFY Community to help make sure I don't fuck shit up with Google and other Search Engines. So can you guys give some advice on what to do and what not to do when making the switch. Also I don't know the best place to get my SSL certificate from, so if you guys know of a good SSL provider for a KVS Tube website please hit me up with a reply. And lastly, is it better to have a Pro install my Certificate or should I attempt to do it my self. Any feedback will be awesome. |
let that part handle people who administrate your hosting account, you need admin access for that anyway.

Free SSL certificate from Let's encrypt works like a charm.
Follow this guide https://www.keycdn.com/blog/http-to-https/ |
I would use the Let's ecrypt if you are on the CPanel, since it is very easy to set up. If you need a paid SSL cert, then I would recommend SSL certs from the Comodo.

use certbot with root access
Code:
root@paragon-DS-7:~# apt search letsencrypt search '301 redirect http to https seo' |

Good luck . |
Cloudflare free SSL works like a charm + extra layer of security. Google how to setup SSL with Cloudflare and you can't fuck up, it's pretty straight forward.

MAKE PROPER 301 REDIRECTION FROM NONSSL TO SSL and test it with no-www or with www Quote:

The only thing you can fuck when you move from non-ssl is ssl is a ignoring 301 redirection and rewriting urls from http to https. |

What a fucking admin access you mentally ill man |
make sure your redirect is ALWAYS a single redirect not a chain.
so lets your new site is: https:// www.test{dot}com then what you want is: http:// test{dot}com -> https:// www.test{dot}com http:// www.test{dot}com -> https:// www.test{dot}com https:// test{dot}com -> https:// www.test{dot}com and not for example http:// test{dot}com -> http:// www.test{dot}com -> https:// www.test{dot}com |

This device also guarantees the confidentiality of the data transiting between the browser and the website. It requires that a CA validate the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate of the corresponding website. Indeed, Google's algorithm now integrates it into its assessment criteria. |
