I'm shopping for a laptop...
Anyone got any recommendations?

My price range is about $1500 - $2000 CDN before taxes and accessories.

These ones have my eye so far:

Do not whatever you do buy a Compaq/HP! My laptop was less than 4 months old and I had to send it in to service. This week my 3 month old HP desktop crapped out and I have to send it to service as well.

Spend the extra dough and get the Dell. You will thank me later!

If u are really interested in getting a dell, i suggest u go to www.fatwallet.com and look out for ppl posting coupons for a dell. You can get away with a deell 500m for alil bit over 1300CAD. keep in mind its basic.. but still, at 1500 bux u can prob get a good deal. have them ship it to somewhere in the states and bring it back: the warrenty just gets transfered to dell canada.

I got a old tosiba 5100 Satellite Pro , pent 3, win98 se, i updated the ram. It runs great i would suggest a toshiba. :thumbsup

You can get an 800 MHz 12" iBook, with 384 megs of RAM, 40 GB drive, and three years of support for $2075 canadian. Nice solid system.

Actually the iBook lineup was just updated a couple of days ago so that basic 800mhz model now goes for $1499 canadian and with the couple upgrades you mention you can probably get it a little cheap now. so it's an even better deal.

sony just came out with a new laptop and its really compact and its in that price range. Its the PCG-Z1A

I would really like to get a laptop, but i dont know if i would ever use it, anyone have a laptop and still prefer there desktop over it?

Dell uses quality stuff.. they used to be crazy expensive, changed their prices.. but the computers are great quality

Compaq is one of the worst makes of computers around... HP is right with them..!

I want a laptop myself. Am having to save my pennies and nickels, but eventually I'll get one. :)
