The Northwest is Shaking!

First Portland got hit by an earthquake yesterday around noon.
Early this morning, around 3 a.m. there was a 4.8 quake 40 miles west of Seattle. Fortunately it was very deep so it did no damage.

Dang..this is getting a bit nerve wracking.
Just don't want to see a repeat of 2001's 6.8 quake or anything close to it or higher!

Back in Kansas, we just worried about them tornados!:helpme

Fletch XXX 04-25-2003 01:20 PM

finally the split may arise.

all good nations fall.

we thought we were cool to run to the island in the middle, well its gonna snap again and bye bye everything.

see you guys in hell yo.

:thumbsup

Supposedly, we are have the worst kind of earthquakes here in the NorthWest (when the big ones hit). Its not like California and the shaking but more of a jarring up and down motion because the plates are sliding off of each other.

pornJester 04-25-2003 01:36 PM

dem plates be'a shift'n

It's like the way mother nature deals with trailer parks. This time she's aiming for Gray Davis... she just has to get the coordinates straightened out. :winkwink:

If the big one hits I hope the surf picks up on vancouver island. Maybe it will sink the Washington penisula so that victoria gets waves :))

bull fucking shit.

I've lived through earthquakes and took a direct hit from a tornado while I was in my apartment...give me an earthquake anyday.

You don't go around freaking out every day thinking...OMG there could be an earthquake...but take a direct hit from a tornado and lose your place of residence and everytime you see a cloud well up you get a bit concerned.

I think that's what I said! It's alot better to have your house shook off the foundation than moved two countys away!

Fletch XXX 04-25-2003 03:24 PM

i grew up sitting through hurricanes seasons.

none of these things scare me, tornadoes are quick and random.

earthquakes, quick as well. scary but still quick.

Ive sat through hurricanes that lasted weeks, sitting in the complete dark for days with no electricity by candle light. having to board up the windows with plywood every hurricane season.

hurricanes carry tornadoes with them, i aint afraid of much, but sitting in the dark with plywood over the windows listening to the devils whispers for 1 week will scare any motherfucker.

every summer brought storms.

been through two tornadoes..one in texas on my oldest childs first birthday..it was mild..
and the second i was sittin in the titty bar, drink in hand when the lights starting going on and off.. then came the train noise.. i looked at my customer beside me and said in my best drunken voice "here comes the fucking tornado"..right about that time the place went black..the roof was ripped off.. the tornado came into the bar and right back out....talk about some fucking chaos...naked girlies in the rain running everywhere ..i still had my drink inhand... i grabbed the bottle form behind the bar and headed out to see if my car was still there...there was a corvette used carlot beside the palce and it had thrown cars everywhere..mine was unscathed (whew)....talk about pandemonium..now that i look backi should have grabbed the damn cash register :1orglaugh

have yet to experience a earthquake..something about the unseen below me freaks me out.

been through several hurricanes.. they dont phase me much.

The black lines are the major plates the land is floating on. And yes we are all on top of one these huge rafts floating on liquid magma.

You can see why the western US gets shaked a lot.

Yeah..I heard you got hit big time yesterday. Hope all is well.
When I was back in Kansas, I remember one night in Wichita when *13* funnel clouds were sighted over the city. LUCKILY, NONE touched down. I think that would have been equivalent to one Hiroshima! (well..maybe not quite..but close).
