I've been out of business for a while, currently thinking to return, would like to discuss general methods of getting traffic and monetisation.:helpme

Some time ago these method were very popular amongst webmasters:

(oldest one)Make TGP -> Trade with other TGPs in order to multiply traffic -> send traffic to FHGs -> get sale
Make Tube -> Embed Videos from porn-giant like xhamster, list them on my Tube -> Trade with other tubes -> send traffic to xhamster -> get paid for trafic from i.e. xhamster or so
Make Tube -> Embed Videos from Sponsors, list them on my Tube -> Get Organic SE traffic -> send traffic to Sponsors[and PPC] -> get paid for sign ups and traffic
Once you got one work well rinse and repeat, so that was quite easy:1orglaugh


Since that time a lot of new ways to get traffic came up, would love to hear what kind of ways you guys utilize currently?

Also I noticed there are a lot of threads regarding these programs and niches:
Adult Dating
Cams
PPC,PPL

What methods is curently working with these?

Internally we do media buying via the various traffic networks and send to adult dating. Most of our pubs do the same though we do have a mix of some having their own internal traffic and some with social traffic as well.

That's very interesting, I thought it's way more harder for pubs to promote dating like made sites dedicated to dating or something like that.

So basically most of your publishers buy spots on sites with a lot of traffic (tubes), put there banner with your ads and then send traffic to your program, right? So easily :)

Could I ask you how do they send traffic to you, through prelanding page, domain redirect or use direct link from banners? Also like to know if it's so easy as you discribe where's most difficult part of that? In finding good networks for spots I suppose?

Porn is free now. The best customer base is new webmasters. Create new tube scripts or sell bot traffic.

That is exactly it. We/they buy traffic (not all traffic is created equal -- lots of it is crap and impossible to get a good ROI) and optimize our banners, pre-sale landers, and offers. Definitely not as easy as it may sound. It is competitive and takes a lot of time split testing everything by device, GEO, etc.

OP, if you really want to learn new business models, I second Paul Markham's recommendation. You should seriously think about some anal lube and a good Grindr profile. You might meet a nice, older webmaster who would teach you a thing or two about the "industry."

Hell, it might be an 18 year old webmaster who started business when he was 14 with his parent's credit card. I've seen that too.

Either way, just prepare your asshole. An education is expensive!

Your customer acquisition cost using broker bought traffic may be as high as $100 - $150 per customer.

Organic traffic is the best mid-term traffic investment for affiliates.
Search engine SEO (or SEM) and social media -- mix in some trades if you can find good ones.

It's a hard lesson to learn and yes a pain in the ass but if you are up to the challenge good luck.

It never ceases to amaze me how people think others should teach them for free.

All these answers with that ignorance and attitude just get me to the point that business is almost extinguished (and yes i'm captain obvious), that's sad. I was not asking for step-by-step instructions but some directions, there were times back then when ppl were happy to help newcomes or at least show them some examples but now..
