We hear a lot about the big name players in the industry as a whole, but who would you say are the biggest names/programs/sites in the gay niche?

Darren Austin is a pretty big name in the gay niche and hosts the CE gay webmaster show.

Bfcollection.com, bedfellow and some of the older gay paysites and are pretty huge so i've heard.

My partner and i run some large gay tgps, free hosts, and paysites.

i can't think of who's the biggest in gay porn right now...

ken ryker is huge but the gossip queens say he's just gay for pay

You cant compare the money in gay to the money in straight.

There is no gay Lensman, Fantasyman, blah blah blah. There just isnt the traffic to supprt that level of income in gay.

sorry dude I dont see very many examples of people doing well with gay sites and if they are noone is speaking up.

I've been a top 10 affiliate with a big gay sponsor for 5 or 6 months straight and I'm broke. I made way more selling indian girls and old ladies. I'm probably going to go back.

I derrive my 95% of my income from gay marketing. And I can honestly say I'm not broke LOL

There are a number of gay players but most of us aren't vocal. And many won't speak outside of the community - they have been given a tremndous amount of reason not to share. And many have told me I'm a fool for being vocal on Gay Wide Webmaster because I shouldn't share that info.

Comparing the numbers between the gay market and the straight market, there is a vast difference simply by the amount of straight people versus gay people. However the amount of disposable income inside the gay community is far greater.

Is there money to be made in gay... hell yes! A lot. And to be honest if you aren't, then your doing something wrong.

I agree with you and I look forward to attending your seminar, but I'm just giving my experience.

After months of producing my checks are tiny.

As for doing something wrong, well I am outselling lots of other established people but not seeing much for my efforts.

So if anyone wants me to switch over to their program I'm open to it. I generate sales, I just need a better product to sell I guess.

NOW the comment you made above... it's golden! That I will say is a problem. There is a lot of crap and over saturation out there... You just need to find the right match, because there is a lot of good stuff out there too.

I know a number of very successful webmaster working gay that do not offer webmaster programs. They have sites that are unbelieveable! But they just don't want to share the gold.

That HSBoys site converts really well.

There's definitely less gay traffic than straight traffic (that stands to reason) but I've always found it more profitable. After all, most gay guys have more disposable income than their straight peers - with no wives/kids to support, etc. There's alos less taboo about sex and paying for sex.

The problem, in my opinion, is that the big "mega programs" with both gay and straight sites tend to have really crap gay sites. The people who create them are obviously not gay and don't know how to make them look good. So they end up converting badly and failing to make money. Then the programs don't invest in new ideas and things never get better. NastyDollars are probably the only exception to this rule that I can think of.

I'm surprised nobody has the imagination to develop a really good gay site. If one of the big programs had a site like PhotoBoyz, which converts around 1:60 consistently and retains members for an average of 6 months, they would make millions. Why don't they do it? (PhotoBoyz is not for sale by the way - it was just an example! haha)

What? I'm serious - lots of affiliates are sending all their traffic to different niches within one big program. It's convenient and there are advantages to it, but most people would make tons more cash if they worked with niche programs that paid the same or more per sign up but converted 2-3 times better.

No way you are converting 1:60 with that site unless you get only AVS and SE traffic... or you only get 120 hits a day.

Mostly 18-19 - that's what we aim for. Some are aged up to 23 if they have the right look.

Well, if you got 15 hits per day and made a sale every four days, your rate would be 1:60

If you got 60 hits per day and made a sale every day, your rate would be 1:60

If you got 6,000 hits per day and made 100 sales every day, your rate would be 1:60

If you got 600,000 hits per day and made 10,000 sales every day, your rate would be 1:60

It's a ratio of hits to sign ups, the number of hits per day does not come into it.

Or prove the conversion rate? Well, why not try us? I've tried your program before so I know how your flagship site converted and retained. If you're curious about ours, why not try it?

The site has been going for five years, has all exclusive material, is updated every two days and has the type of models that the market we focus on wants. Of course it converts and retains well. I don't get why you're being so prissy.

I smell bullshit. Talk is cheap as cutetwink says, let's test it - i will send you 1000 gay AVS hits and if it doesn't convert at least 1:100 (10 signups) what can you offer me? if you are so confident let's do so:

I will also make you the same offer as Darkystar. 1k AVS clicks converting at least 1:100 or you pay me $2k. It will prove your program rocks. If it does i will continue to send traffic.

Try to understand that PhotoBoyz is different to your pay sites, judging from your portfolio. We don't use lots of bought in content geared around American tastes. We produce our own exclusive content geared around European tastes. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but they are different markets and one is saturated and the other isn't. Unsaturated niche markets almost always convert better than saturated ones.

I'm obviously not going to take you up on your offer. No surpises there. You don't like our site and don't understand its appeal, therefore you won't promote it effectively and won't get the good conversions. Your AVS sites are probably also aimed at the same market as your pay sites - that would only be natural - but it's not the target market for PhotoBoyz, and that will also affect your conversions.

Let me also say that I've tried your sites and got poor results but I would never try to make you look small on a board. And that's after giving you a chance. You know nothing about me or my sites, or the market I'm appealing to, yet you sit there sneering. I think that's kinda sad. PhotoBoyz has been going 5 years, with new exclusive content every two days. Would it even still be there, let alone making a healthy profit, which it is, if the idea/niche wasn't getting good conversions and retaining members? Doing things a bit differently is a risk, but it often pays off.

I'm not going to cheat you and send 1000 exit hits or something. I'll do it very honest way trust me. I'll go as far as showing you ads before sending traffic.

I have very good ratios with Cash Addicts and PhotoBoyz. We use those sites in some exits and get very good ratios. The content is some of the best I have seen. BTW I can tell you PhotoBoyz has been around for as long as they say they have, it was just under a different name. :)

I explained how we get the good conversions and why I didn't think you would get such good conversions. I'm not going to gamble on you being able to produce good quality traffic when I have no idea who you are!

And it's all very clever looking up the domain info - but it's also misleading. PhotoBoyz used to have a .co.uk domain, being a UK site, and we only started using the global .com and .net domains about two years ago when the site got more international interest. Many of our affiliates and even a handful of members have been with us since the beginning.

I won't post to this thread again.
