Swoit - business model does not work

50% - Affiliates
40% - Partner sites
10 % - Adminsitration - I presume this means CC processing....where do they make there profit? No profit no business...

freeme 04-25-2003 05:25 AM

Hmmm a junoir rocket scientist

maybe NASA is looking for someone

Digipimp 04-25-2003 05:26 AM

They make their profit because you really have no idea how many paying members are browsing your paysites so they can just skim off the top unless they open their books to every single person in the program.

gothweb 04-25-2003 05:27 AM

Actually, there is a way they can make money. They can be their own biggest affiliate, and make 50% of a chunk of the sales.

Also, they could be making money off the admin if they do their own billing. Probably too close to actually make money, though, you're right.

Mario Puzo's line in the book "The Godfather" . . .

"Behind every fortune is a crime."

Rochard 04-25-2003 05:38 AM

Exits? Popups? Banners? Upsells?

EVERY FUCKING EMAIL FROM EVERY SITE WILL RUN THROUGH THEM.

How about that.

slavdogg 04-25-2003 05:39 AM

those that add their sites early on will make the most money
insead of bashing i would add a site and test it out
i'm sure most of you have premade active sites and templets you can transfer there.

give it a try and than come back and tell everyone how it did

The user is charged $32.95 or something like that, and the affiliate gets $15 which apparently is 50% :glugglug so I guess the other $2.95 is the processing fee.

Swoit 04-25-2003 08:29 AM

dd2's hit the nail on the head here guys

The flat $15 per signup + $15 recurring takes into account the processing fee.

The 40% that is distributed to paysites is just that - 40% with no exclusions.

Let me know if you have any q's

Put up a Video Archive part in your website and i will gladly launch a new DVD Archive site to test your program out with.

European Lee 04-25-2003 11:38 AM

Maybe they will withhold their affiliates checks for months and rake in on the interest whilst telling their webmasters that their checks have been mailed out ;)

Nah, affiliate program owners wouldnt do that would they?

Regards,

Lee

SykkBoy 04-25-2003 11:48 AM

...or maybe the thing most of you are overlooking...how many of their own sites are in there as well?

and the aforementioned exits, mail catchers, etc.

there are many more ways of making money than just selling memberships to a site ;)

They aren't getting processing for 10% flat from CCBill... and how do they pay their bandwidth etc?

Just curious...

Brujah 04-25-2003 11:56 AM

They're splitting 100% of profit after processing fee the way I understand it.

Spunky 04-25-2003 11:59 AM

Swoit=Scamming Webmasters Obviously In Time :BangBang:

SetTheWorldonFire 04-25-2003 12:01 PM

100% of profit? Who's determining profit? They are carrying open books so their partners can see what they are paying for hosting, admin expenses, all the costs of running a business?

It's an interesting model, I am very curious as to just how it works.

Brujah 04-25-2003 12:22 PM

What I meant by "profit" was everything left after processing fee. Profit was a poor choice. I assumed it was similiar to any of the partnership programs that say you'll get 60% but it's always after processing fee.

Darn I thought that meant we can pay people 50% or 60% AFTER we took out limo rides and hooker fees. I'm finding a day job now!

You couldn't do it and get away with it. You'd end up squealing on yourself. :winkwink:

traffictrader 04-25-2003 12:56 PM

it'll work or it won't, just wait a few months.

Serge_Oprano 04-25-2003 12:59 PM

people,
I have 2 questions:

1) aren't you tired talking about SWOIT for the 5th day now???

2) is it THAT revolutionary that you just can't stop talking????

3) is there ANYBODY who haven't heard about it yet????

swoit you all!

gothweb 04-25-2003 01:01 PM

May programs, including mine, pay their percentage *before* the processing fee.

Brujah 04-25-2003 01:10 PM

I haven't used it because it looks like any other AVS to me, except I have less control. As a site owner I'd risk losing all my traffic and income to other sites. I only get paid if they come back to my site, even if it was my member.

Adult Verifier Ultra for example is a more attractive solution in my opinion so far.
http://www.adultverifier.com/av/ultrawebmaster.php3

You can setup a small paysite and get paid every month.
You can pay out $25 per signup if you want and/or a recurring option (up to 70% I think) to your webmaster affiliates. As a site owner, if you have 1000 members.. you get paid for the 1000 members even if they are now visiting another site more often or browsing only the new sites that are added.

The registrar has to be cooperative usually, but email me and I'll try to reply with some contacts and steps to take.
