12 Ways to Ruin a Restoration?and How to Avoid Them

I've been doing old car restoration for decades and in fact I've been doing it about as long as I've been making money from smut. On my 12th birthday I purchased the carcass of a 1929 Durant model 40 for $10!

I had five restored classics. I didn't do anything but pay. But, I wouldn't let them change things to make it easier. Don't change parts for cheaper year parts, don't install disc brakes on my '66 Mustang because "it's safer". I want original, not better. I know the brakes differ since I've driven it.

I try to go with original parts of the era whenever possible because it increases the value of the car. Next week I'm getting delivered from Manitoba a 1930 Cadillac 16 and I'm told that it's in absolute pieces. I plan on restoring the machine back to original factory condition and leave it as a future gift to my soon to be born child.
