Which capture card do you personally use to get your mini dv film onto the comp?

I have the DAZZLE digital video creator II but it sucks for anything higher than 352x240 for me. I dont want to outsource the work I want to do it myself. I already posted a message asking what video editing software you use and I got my answer to which one I'll use. But now I need to know which capture device you use to get your film from lets say a Canon GL2 digital camcorder onto the comp. and once again THANKS :)

Uhhh...why don't you use Firewire? It's lossless.

Yes actually I was suppose to get the firewire port for my comp (im using a noname brand even though I bought two good comps HP and Compaq) they didnt work with the Dazzle so I returned them. Well, because I guess my question would be after the firewire is installed you'd use a program like Premiere to get it dumped into the computer?

If you have XP and windows movie maker (it's free) you can use firewire, edit your movies, even send your edited video back to DV tape or have it encode it for web use in wmv format. I'm not sure how Premiere works but i am sure you could also use it for your editing but i have found windows movie maker so easy to use i will stick with it.

I've got a Firebird DV and just bought a Pinnacle Pro-One - http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPa...7&Langue_ID=7, was looking at the matrox but was buying bulk through a guy that specialised/affiliated in pinnacle and couldn't be assed waiting for him to order the matrox in as it would have held up the whole order.

The Dawg 04-24-2003 08:59 PM

I use Pinnacle DV500 Plus and Premiere 6.5

Same for me. We also bought some of the smart sound music CDs that worked really well for us..... You can get them at www.smartsound.com . I'd recommend them to anyone.

We're a big happy Canopus family over here. We're using two DV Raptors. And MAN does our stuff sing. The Canopus is a real time system, thus saving us lots of time.

Time is Money.

Buy my content.

Pinnacle is the best :thumbsup

and yes, we use firewire, Sony laptop with origin products and Premiere as above mentioned too

However I recommend Pinnacle
