xm had a head start on sirius, the technology is better with xm as the unit receives the signal directly from the satellite. XM has like 20x more subscribers, more working capital, etc.

In addition, xm has contracts w/ the majority of automobile maufacturers and airlines. Expect to see internet in your car soon!
