Put facial recognition on your bank account and phone if you are fucking stupid.

The world of technology always lags behind the common sense of the average thief when it comes to security.

For example : Adding fingerprint recognition on the ATM machine.
The crook just cuts your finger off and uses it at all the ATM machines.

So when you add facial recognition to your bank account, the crooks just go to facebook and print off
your profile picture and hold it up at the ATM.

Yeah I have an S8+ and aside from feeling like you have the CIA in your hand, the finger print sensor on the back of my phone suggested more than one fingerprint for it's database. I've never been arrested but now my fingerprints are in some database somewhere :disgust

Samsung Pay is cool though. All my credit cards are in my phone now and I just wave my phone over the credit card machine NFC reader at the store and I'm paid up. It works in every store I've gone to the last few months. Happy about that :thumbsup

But don't you see how that makes your phone more valuable to a crook?
Why walk around with something in your hand that is so valuable that most crooks
would kill you for it?

You are making yourself a target to gain a minuscule amount of convenience.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I live where that stuff doesn't really happen and I pay a lot to live this way. My phone has likely been hacked and/or cloned at least 2-3 times, that's the real danger, for me, and it's likely happened multiple times already and nothing I can do. There's nothing any of us can do to avoid theft/hack. If someone's determined they're gonna get what they want regardless, right?

I'm less likely to get jacked by a thief that will cut off all my fingers to get the right one on my print scan than I am one that wants cash or credit cards right?

Besides, to pay by SamsungPay you have to do the print scan within seconds to activate the NCF signal which also only stays on for a few seconds. So this crook would have to carry my bloody dead finger everywhere on his shopping spree.

Also, my SamsungPay app has a constant tracking of my pulse & heart rate with live DNA sampling, once I'm dead SamsungPay deactivates & wipes my phone. So...

"I live where that stuff doesn't really happen" : That's dumb shit; the dude you met at the bar who fucked you in the ass last night will be the crook.

Make all the excuses you want to justify the stupidity of using body parts to secure something.
In the end; that body part will be cut off by a crook.

You are worried but super low probability events. You should read Freakonimics or one of those books. Tons of our fears are based on anecdotal evidence and not real facts.

Given the number of people in the world, murder is a super low probability event; yet every parent tells their kid not to hitchhike because killers are out there.

A persons activities and behavior can make a low possibility event a 99% certainty over time.

For example: that ugly chick doesn't look like she could ever get pregnant; but keep hanging out with her.
