Trump: Keep our 'beautiful' Confederate monuments

President Trump on Thursday bemoaned the removal of "beautiful" Confederate monuments across the U.S. after last weekend's violent clashes in Charlottesville, Va., where white supremacists rallied against the removal of Robert E. Lee statue.

"Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments," Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday morning. "You can't change history, but you can learn from it. Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson - who's next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish!"

Trump continued: "Also the beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!"

Trump has cast a monument to his stupidity and arrogance.

He seems to be encouraging divisions in America so he can declare martial law.

I don't want to be an alarmist ... However ...

Youngsters, the most common vandals, frequently experience low status and boredom. Vandalism enables powerless people to attack those above them, take control and frighten others. Unpunished vandalism can provide relief which reinforces the behaviour. Vandalism by one person can lead to imitation

Here's the General George Custer monument in Monroe, MI

We Americans idolize some infamous "heroes"

After the Civil War, he fought in the Indian Wars in the West. His previous accomplishments in the Civil War, however, were overshadowed by his catastrophic defeat and death at the Battle of the Little Big Horn on June 25, 1876.[6]

To honor him, a $24,000, 14-foot (4.27 m) bronze equestrian statue, sculpted by Edward Clark Potter, was unveiled in Monroe in 1910 by President William Howard Taft and the widowed Elizabeth Bacon Custer.[2] The statue commemorates his successful actions during the Civil War and not his more well-known defeat in 1876.[7]

**added How ironic the the current leader of the political party of Abraham Lincoln should call for homage and honoring of racist Confederate States "heroes."

His goal is to divide America. Trump wants a race war. Not gonna happen. Trump's followers are primarily papers dragons. The reason the streets aren't filled with protesters across America is because we know Trump has little to no power..

              Big business: against Trump

              Tech industry: against Trump

              Congress: against Trump

FBI: against Trump (likely at this point)

              Special council: against Trump

The list goes on, not to mention the vast majority of Americans are against Trump.

Logistically it's not possible for Trump to initiate marshal law against the will of the people, especially in states like California , New York, etc. not gonna happen.

I am not sure how I feel about this.

I think the "South" and the "Confederate States of America" and the entire notion of the "South Will Rise Again" is nonsense. If you don't to be part of the United States, then leave the United States - don't try to break it up.

On the other hand, I don't believe we should be ignoring our past history. Our history, for better or for worse, is our history. Then again, these monuments weren't put up direct after the American Civil War, was it? Wasn't these monuments put up during the Jim Crow era with the soul intention of intimidating blacks?
