Violence is wrong, but i just kicked a dudes ass

(long time listener, first time caller...well kinda)

I've been at the local pub enjoying a quiet beer or two and some pool, when I ran into an old school buddy that I haven't seen for ages. We had one of those "what ya been doing seen I've last seen you" conversations, then proceeded to drink my beer with my mates.

Several beers and pool games later, as the night was coming to a close, he was leaving with his friends when I said: " seeya jonno, say Hi to your sister for me". (his sister and I are also friends and I had recently seen her in said pub) When he comes over full of drunken bravado bringing up a high school grudge that is a decade old (and in my mind forgotten), wanting to take it outside and all that crap.

Now I didn't want to hurt the guy, I'm usually pretty passive. But he was relentless.

We were toe to toe in the parking lot, he was talking macho bullshit, and I was trying to tell the guy I didn't want to hurt him.
When he flare his nostrils and did the 'crazy eyes' on me, flicked off his shoes and shaped up.
Now he's about 6ft 3, i'm pushin 5ft 6-7, and puberty must have hit him pretty late cos he's filled out since i've seen him last. I haven't really been in this situation before, but I have trained in the martial arts (not for about six years), but I tell you, you don't forget it. I was pulling out combos from god knows where.

Knocked him out cold with a back fist to the jaw.

"you're not so big now" he said, "how the tables have turned" he said.

I bitch-slapped his ass right back to high school.

mojobatron 04-22-2003 09:49 AM

not bragging, but i just got back and the adrenalin is still coursing through my system.

DarkJedi 04-22-2003 09:51 AM

I too was three sheets to the wind.

And told him repeatedly that I didn't want to fight. He was just determined to fight.

if that guy got all stupid it looks like self defense.

you ever had a drunk friend com at you?

things are different when assholes are drunk and the gloves are off.

Gunni 04-22-2003 09:57 AM

Martial arts do come in handy :thumbsup

I do Judo, and have had to use it a few times, the beauty of Judy is that it doesnīt really hurt the opponent, but when heīs flying throgh the air all of a sudden, and then the next thing he knows is that he canīt breath, he might think twice when you let him go :glugglug

So tell me, what did you train in, Taekwondo or something?

Thomas N 04-22-2003 10:01 AM

Something tells me, the truth of how this went down is more like you both talked shit, slapped at each other while looking like a couple of morons, talked a little more shit, then left.

I'm sure what ever message board the other guy posts on, he is telling everyone how he knocked your ass out cold too.

Ever notice you never see a fight LOSER telling a fight story?

Funny how that is, huh?

A martial arts called "Zen Chi Ryu".

Kung fu based but influenced by muay thai, judo and street fighting.

mojobatron 04-22-2003 10:04 AM

I dig it Swordfish, but I surprised myself. I'm not an aggressive person.
But Jonno got knocked the fuck out.

buddyjuf 04-22-2003 10:05 AM

Exxxotica 04-22-2003 10:07 AM

There's a difference between "violence" and good old fashion "brawling". :thumbsup

yeah, but kicking a drunk man's ass isn't something i'd brag about.

mojobatron 04-22-2003 10:12 AM

I don't know, there's just a sense of satisfaction when someone is threatening you and you stand up for yourself.

easyfun 04-22-2003 10:12 AM

I had a scrap once - Before the squeek could move I rapped my jaw like a demented hammer against his poor knuckles and then, just for added bravado, I brought my nuts down heavily against his foot.

I think at that point my lack of training began to show and I collapsed from sheer exhaustion - But I bet he will never forget it.

If you don't like violence, you should have walked away and let that drunk sucker be. :2 cents:

gornyhuy 04-22-2003 11:11 AM

So....
what was the exact sequence of fighting events that led up to the backfist TKO???

I'm fascinated with the details of that shit, and I'm in the same general shape (used to train taekwondo about 5 years ago and the moves still come back to me when they are needed....)

:glugglug

Very true! It's been over 10 years seince I last trained but it still there. It's just reflex I guess. I do need to get back in training now that I'm dropping a few pounds.

A friend on mine is a Black Belt and teaches Marial arts for a living.
To bad she lives in a different city then I do now. Would love to train with her.

Really?

There is no back fist in Muay Thai
There is no back fist in Judo
Street fighting? What's that? Bum rushing and fucking someone up in numbers?

Kung fu based on all that shit. Sounds like bullshit to me.

Nice story.

It is impressive that there are a number of drunks that post on the board.
It's even more impressive when they brag about some inane thing that they did when they were drunk.

Yep...great American standards to live by (or die by!).

there is a back fist in Muay Thai.

On re-evaluation the form was actually kempo based. Well they are closely related styles. Our sensei introduced all sorts of styles though. He was a crazy mofo. Some lessons we would concentrate solely on grapples or throws, some kick boxing and muay thai. He even taught us that in a street fight situation, when its just you and a guy that wants to beat your ass, "fuck it, pick up a lump of wood and crack him".

But like I said before, I am not the violent type. I was just glad that I had learnt some self defense so that I could live to drink another day.

I have now slept off the beer and adrenalin, I was only talking about it last night because I am usually a pussy in those sorts of situations. And I got to hold my own against a larger aggressor.
