Watch pimpin, what are you wearing?

I was just wondering I'm fan of watches since I got my first real job out of college and bought a Movado, since then I've collected here and there, made contacts and started selling them as a hobby but usually only to friends. Mostly I just buy for myself when I see something cool or new that I like So what do you guys wear and do you have pics of it?

I'll try to put on a pic of the few I have, a Rolex, Movado, Invicta, couple of brands no one has much heard of from overseas and I am looking to pick up a new one for myself, maybe a Vanceur.

goBigtime 04-22-2003 03:24 AM

I thought you were telling us to watch a movie called pimpin' and then asking us what we are wearing. :1orglaugh

Gucci, I am stuck on the because I am so obsessive/compulsive that I'd go nuts not having the most accurate timepiece... Yes they are cheap, but 'apparently' they tell time better than even Rolex... Not that *I'd* tell the damned difference or anything...

justsexxx 04-22-2003 07:56 AM

Gucci is nice....Rolex is always so big,,,,

BTW not that I'm willing to spend 30K for a watch...

I go watchless. Most of the time I'm at a computer with a clock in the systray, in my car with a clock on the dash, or in bed with a clock next to it. When I'm out, I usually carry a cell phone with automatically set time that self-adjusts when I cross time zones, and a pager that doubles as an alarm clock. If I felt the frequent need to know the time in seconds or finer precision, I'd invest in a clomipramine prescription rather than a more precise watch.

Phoenix 04-22-2003 08:19 AM

i bought a nice watch once, and i wore it around, i bang it off everything...i will by myself a nice diving watchor something but nothing over 1k

fiveyes 04-22-2003 08:24 AM

I stopped wearing a watch when I found out my camcorder shows the time when I first turn it on.

I never heard of Rolex but I do see most fashionable wannabe ballah's at the conventions wearing a Bolex. Are you sure you didn't mean Bolex?

JerseyPuma 04-22-2003 08:42 AM

Rolexes keep shitty time, but if you have the money to buy a Rolex who the fuck cares what time it is anyway.

jonesy 04-22-2003 08:50 AM

not the exact but close and not an everyday wear either - only worn to functions - strip clubs, business meetings, escort parties, weddings, BBQ'S, ect.

I got my watch at Target for 20 bucks. It's great. It even tells the time.

I didn't want to post the watch I'm getting very soon... cause I don't want anyone else getting the same idea, but what the hell. I tend to spoil myself when I hit my goals, did it with my car and other shit. Right now, I'm rocking a Whittenaur, "laurate" just $500 watch... nothing special. My next watch

The only problem is 90% of the replicas on the market are just plain shit and you would be getting a better watch if you bought a Timex at Wal-Mart. I've seen and held and wore replicas vs the real thing and there is a huge difference, however with that being said getting the look, feel and weight of a Rolex without the price can be done with quality and at a price less than buying a Rolex replica would usually cost you. Check out an Invicta, if you are having trouble finding info let me know and I'll try to help you since I sell them among many others. Personally I like watches that look unique.

I have several high priced watches from Rolex to Cartier to Piaget but most of the time I wear a $65 Fossil watch because it's not showy and it matches my jeans.

http://www.fossil.com/images/product...ard/AM3345.jpg

People here aren't impressed with what you show off. People are more impressed by what you have that you don't show off. It took me a few years to learn that.

Mr. Jim 04-22-2003 12:53 PM

I had an Hublot elegant that I just sold that I wish I had not. Hublot is a very understated watch that is very unassuming. It was (at the time) the thinest auto made. Stainless with a saphire face and the lifetime rubber strap with stainless clasp.

I let it go for $1200.00

not smart

twistyneck 04-22-2003 12:56 PM

I never wear a watch because I never need to know what time it is. Oh how I pity you poor bastards.

dantheman 04-22-2003 01:00 PM

no watch, no rings, no necklesses, no bling at all:(
dont really like things like that, I normally lose them or break them.

I just wear a Fossil.

Nothing else. Anything else that resembles bling makes me look stupid. :1orglaugh

That has to be the most ludicrous, pretentious article of glitter I've ever seen. You'd look less ridiculous if you just branded a $ sign onto your forehead.

Hey denis, are you aware that your Rolex has a battery ??
Its not the same battery as in Movado, but its still a battery thats good for about 20 years. Ask you Rolex dealer he'll tell you more about it.

The most expensive watch I've bought is the Piaget Dancer. Crazy wasted money and my less expensive swiss watches are just as accurate and I don't have to worry as much walking around with them and looking like a rich pimp target waiting to be robbed.

One of my favorites of all time that I've owned was the first digital LED watch that was introduced by Pulsar. That was so cool way back then. I got more people wanting to check that out than anything else.
