Iraqi scientist tells of illicit arms

"WITH THE 101ST AIRBORNE, south of Baghdad A scientist who claims to have worked in Iraq's chemical weapons program for more than a decade has told an American military team that Iraq destroyed chemical weapons and biological warfare equipment only days before the war began, members of the team said.
.
They said the scientist led Americans to a supply of material that proved to be the building blocks of illegal weapons, which he said had been buried as evidence of Iraq's illicit weapons programs.
.
He also told U.S. weapons experts that Iraq had secretly sent unconventional weapons and technology to Syria, starting in the mid-1990s, and that more recently Iraq was cooperating with Al Qaeda, the military officials said.

The first of many to come out with the truth. Let the defectors pour out, and speak the truth - this should be fun.

There was never any doubt about them having weapons of mass destruction.

But I guess this is some kind of proof for all those Iraqi-huggers out there.

not really, it's easy to dismiss a person telling people exactly what they want to hear - conveiniently giving us a trigger for Syria and all that. I do believe there are WMD in Iraq and Syria but I still wouldn't trust a media report about it from a supposed snitch. babies were taken from respirators in kuwait, children were thrown overboard by refugees, when governments lie to the public sometimes or even rarely unfortunately you have to assume everything is a lie until really proven true.

You of course are correct. A "grain of salt". Initial reports are far to frequently unreliable...but it is still early in the game. General Franks said that there are up to 3,000 sites to be checked, but if scientists begin to come forward there may not be a need to check that many sites. I have little doubt that they will learn of the where abouts of proscribed materials at some point in time.

yes, they will find something pretty soon, I just wish people would aquire a healthy distrust for these sorts of reports.. it's almost like they forget about the wrong reports from the week before, or the week before that.

I agree :1orglaugh

Most of the first reports are wrong.

There are just too many assholes that are saying, " where's the WMD".

They're there, they just have to find them.

Yeppers, just a matter of time. In my honest opinion, you have to see Saddam as a rational thinker (in his own fucked up way). He's not a dumb man (may be in some aspects). He knew this day was coming, and he's had 12 years to hide his major weapons in his own country, or in neighboring countries. They exist, and they'll soon be available to terror networks. Whether they're in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, or elsewhere...who knows - but we will find them.

It's just going to be a bitch trying to convince the international scene that us going into neighboring countries is justified.

The bitch is going to be squeezing them emough to hand them over. Which they will. All they understand is force, and they just saw it at work. Don't forget they were told we where a "paper tiger" and wouldn't use force.

Btw....

Did you happen to notice how N Korea was all too willing to have "multilateral talks" while just last month they were demanding "unilateral talks"?

Looks like someone was paying attention. Who might you think that was?

:winkwink:
